Unoccupied home insurance

My Mum is currently in hospital and has been for over two months. We are needing to organise unoccupied house insurance for her as she will be in hospital for some time. The main things I think I should be looking for are cover of there and water escape like burst pipes (especially as we are coming into winter)
I have received two quotes and both cover the theft but not the water. Does anyone know of this kind of insurance that will cover water damage? Or just it just not exist.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

Not sure what they cover, but try Brown & Brown.

Does her existing insurance company offer unoccupied cover (for an additional premium). For one relative the provider did, and this cost an additional £20. For my DM her existing provider did not and we had to cancel the policy and buy with another conpany at £500 for six months. Most unoccupied policies will be conditional on switching the water off.

Ours was conditional on Esther switching off and draining the water or keeping the house at a minimus temp all of the time and weekly checks.

I used Saga for my elderly fathers house. They wanted the water to be turned off either at the stop cock or the meter and heating had to be set to come on if the temperature drops below 14°. I found them to be very good value (had some extortionate quotes which also required every item of value to be removed from the premises). For any empty home insurance you are supposed to do a weekly inspection of pipes etc. Saga let me ask a neighbour to do a quick weekly check and I went once a month to stay for a week to visit the hospital (then settle into a care home, then clear the house for sale). They also didn't mind that there wasn't any cctv as the neighbourhood watch are really active (I found out as I entered the house using a key 'who are you and what are you doing?'!!)

We went through a local insurance broker for empty home insurance and had the same conditions (either heating on and thermostat set to 15° C over winter months plus fortnightly check or system drained).

Contents cover can be really expensive for an empty property though.
