Balance of investments in a portfolio

Does anyone know what a good balance of investments is in a SIPP with a medium term outlook (retirement in 15 or so years)?

Does this look ok?

Cash (MMF) - 10%
Gold ETF -6%
Global equities - 49%
Global income -10%
UK equities - 10%
Tech ETF and stock - 15%

I am mainly using Vanguard funds for low fees.

I appreciate my tech exposure will be more like 25-30% due to exposure through global equity funds. Is this too high?

I sold my Technology funds just before the last dip this year because if you have a high proportion of US and global funds, you already have a high exposure to technology. Just saying 😜

It looks good to me, but worth mentioning you can also get ESG screened versions of many equity funds, which don't invest in companies that are trashing the environment or otherwise making the world a worse place.

For instance, someone mentioned Artemis income - this has had great returns, but bear in mind that 4 of its top 10 holdings are major armaments manufacturers (Japanese, British, Korean and German).

ESG funds have consistently underperformed.
Personally, I WANT Arms/Tobacco/ Pharma etc.

The next leap in tech is just around the corner, Quantum apps will work on any operating system and will revolutionise systems like home tech.

Do ESG funds not contain pharma?

This is the thing I’m finding hardest at the moment. Everything I read says that it’s time to reduce exposure to tech and the US. Meanwhile tech and the US are doing great so I can’t bear to. I’ll never be a value investor 😂

Typically they exclude weapons, gambling, tobacco and alcohol. And possibly porn. No exclusion of pharma.

True, but "underperformance" is relative. My ESG-screened and socially responsible portfolio has made me quite a bit of money over the years.

Plus, I'd rather live in a world with fewer tanks (wishful thinking!)

@BorgQueen I have been hearing quite a few mentions of Quantum computing recently, looks like something I need to do a bit of research on.

That’s what I thought 🤔
