I’ve recently had some very positive health news and it’s given me a bit of a kick to do something else for work.

I’ve always thought about a particular business - opening a small store selling a range of items that I’ve always loved buying when abroad in Europe. I’ve always dreamed about importing these items and selling them here but it’s always been a daydream.

This dream is really niggling at me now though and I’d love to give it a go. I have a very loose plan in my head but no real idea of how much it costs to import, what units are like cost-wise to rent etc. things like that.

I’ve also, by pure chance, seen that there’s a business in the UK doing exactly what I want to do. They have an IG profile and it happened to pop up in my reels.

I’m confident that I could make this work here - is there a law against me doing something similar? It’s something I’ve day dreamed about for years!

No law, but the import rules/duties since Brexit would probably make it unfeasible. Sorry.

I think your first step is finding out if there is the demand. Have a look on Google AdWords keyword finder to see how many people are searching for the particular products you are talking about. Tbh you might be better finding a drop shipper in Europe and getting them to do the leg work, and you won’t have the financial risk. You could concentrate on the social media advertising then instead.

Agree with the advice about research and checking Google AdWords etc. but I wouldn’t get involved with drop shipping. From a consumer’s perspective it’s harder to trust a business with that model.
