Buying a 1 bed flat

Hey folks,
Me and my husband both 27, are buying a one bed flat in London. We're both first time buyers and are buying our first flat. This flat is by Berkeley but it's old (10 years old). What are some things we should keep in mind for the flat?

Old?!? 🤣😂🤣

What stage are you at - viewed, offered?

So you've had at least 1, possibly 2 viewings, I assume. You may be able to get 1 more 'measuring up' visit but you're basically done on the looking-at-it part.

If you've not already organised a survey and a conveyancing solicitor, that's the next step once the offer is accepted. And finalising the mortgage. For a flat you won't need a full survey because the building as a whole is considered separately, but think about whether you want a homebuyers report (mid level survey) or just the basic valuation. Basic might fine for such a new place, but it really tells you nothing beyond whether it's worth the price.

You'll need insurance from the point of exchange, so start getting quotes for that.

If it's practical advice about buying a flat which may have building related questions, you'd probably be better off posting in the Property/DIY section.
