Premium bond letter

Today I received a letter from NS&I saying I've won £25. However it said I would get a cheque (normally winnings are reinvested).

Apparently it's because a winning number was found to be ineligible so they have redrawn it.

I never realised they did that, I thought they would just keep any money in this situation.

Anyone else ever received one? I've held bonds since the 1980s and never had one before.

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

I've never had this. You are lucky!

I wonder why it was redrawn. Only thing I can think of is that the winner had been dead for 12 months thus making them no longer eligible.

Funnily enough I was talking to a friend who had exactly this happen (they didn't know he had premium bonds until they got a letter telling them by which time he'd been dead 2 years)

I wonder if it was a £25 prize I won or had it been the million they would have broken it down?

If it was just the one prize I was exceedingly lucky 🙂

Yes I've had that - also £25. Can't remember if it was paid by cheque though.
