How is your pension performing?

I just checked on mine and it isn't doing well. Is this typical of all pensions at the moment or more to do with my specific fund allocation? I have gone for socially responsible funds.

It's fairly typical yes. Mines down about 6%

We're teetering on the brink of a recession. Very few investments are doing well at the moment and the markets in general are down. It's not just yours.

Not checked pensions but our investments are dire at the moment.

Yes my pension seems to have been dropping slowly for several months. Just as I was thinking about how steadily it had been growing.

I have 3 separate pensions and they all roughly follow the same trend. Incidentally the one performing marginally the best is the old old fund that has been moved around. Various companies and I was on the brink of incorporating into my current one on the basis I assumed it would be the worst performer!

I have a very small pension that I can see in my bank account so look every time I log in and it has gone down by about 5% recently

The ESG type funds have dropped relatively more as they were invested in more of the tech stocks, which have suffered badly because of the move from growth ( e.g. tech type stocks) to value ( e.g. banks, oil, tobacco) etc.. that has happened recently. I’ve had a similar problem, but view it as a short term thing that over the long term, will even out.

if you are within 5 years of needing the money, then I don’t think you should invest a large % of your money in equities

Thank you. I'm a while off retiring. Just wanted to gauge if it was just my chosen portfolio or an across the board thing. I appreciate your replies.

Hyperion100 · 18/05/2022 17:29

Im choosing not to look at my pension statement this year.

If its anything like my S&S ISA, it wont be pretty.

StageRage · 18/05/2022 17:33

Mine has dropped 10% ish this year 😢. Need to start drawing it in about October next year, too.

Not good news.
