USS or LPPA pension?

I am currently enrolled in the LPPA pension scheme but due to a wage increase can now join the USS scheme.

I get the impression that the USS is a better scheme but im unsure if this is right? I think contributions to USS scheme will be under salary sacrifice but I don't think the LPPA scheme is-have emailed payroll team to check this

I've looked on both their websites but it's hard to tell which may be best for me as I haven't been in LPPA long and I'm obviously not a member of USS yet.

Is USS better of the two? Or does it not really work like that?

Something else I've just remembered-my contribution to LPPA is 6.8% of salary, for USS it's 9.8%
