DH and I are attempting to simplify our money matters due to health issues ie. we're keen to do this while we still can.
We have paper shares, in our individual names.

Have discovered a site called "sellmysharecertificates.com" which seems to offer what we need.
Any views or comments regarding this company are welcome.

Have completed the sale form and am wading through the CREST transfer form but am stuck on the box that says "Description of Security".

From the example/sample provided, I can see that the answer should be either, "ORD GBP1 or ORD USDO.10".

What the chuff does that mean and where do I find the answer Oh wise Mumsnetters?

Ordinary shares (not preference shares) with a nominal value of £1 or $0.10

What does it say on your certificate?

Yes, description of security means what type of share it is. Most shares are ordinary shares and have a nominal value such as £1/10p /2p etc. This is different to the actual share price - ie the value it trades at. The share certificate will say what type of share it it.

It will be GBP shares if you are filling out a Crest form, Crest usually deals in British pounds only. If your shares are all held in UK companies they will almost always pay dividends in GBP.

Thank you all.
Very helpful.
So, these shares are ordinary shares, at 5 pence.
Is my answer for the Crest form therefore, ORD GBP 005?
