Day trading recommendations

I'm enjoying doing some low key day trading- just investing about £5k at a time and looking to make modest profits of £150+
Can anyone recommend any good stocks for this? I'm having success with PETS, CVSG, M and S but am looking for other ideas.

I notice you havnt had any responses .. I was coming on to find recommendations for learning to trade. Can you share how you started up ?

I started with some shares I had in a company that I know well- Pets at Home. I followed the share price for a few weeks and noticed that it often fluctuated by 20-30p a day. I was confident that the company has a good medium term future so I stated some day trading to take advantage of these small rises.
Then started to look at other shares- did well with M and S, lots of travel stocks and Darktrace. Not for the faint hearted though and I never gamble more than I can afford to lose. It's a bit addictive though...

Hi there @Nateismine .

Just stumbled across your thread. Seems not many traders on Mumsnet!

I have been trading forex and commodities for the last couple of years. How are you getting on?

Hi @Mollymarvelous I've never really read one book on trading that I think has any particular edge over the others. If you are total beginner then Day Trading for Dummies will teach you the basic principles. Then the best way of learning is demo trading with pretend money - all the trading platforms support this.

I wouldn't advise parting with any cash for courses or seminars - often the "mentors / experts" aren't successful traders, which is why they make their money by hosting courses. Also, don't believe the Youtube videos - some are a bit useful, but most are inexperienced traders trying to get hits or trying to get you to part with money.

I lost money in the beginning but I've been consistently profitable for 18 months now and make about £2000 per month now. Most traders lose their money (about 95% apparently, although v difficult to find exact figures.)

@Threadkill I'm a complete beginner and on mat leave. Interested in toying with day trading. I've opened an account with app trading 212. They don't charge commission. I was planning to practice a bit too.

2000 is amazing, how are you getting on now? I'm interested in the tax side of things, how do you pay.

Any other companies you can recommend. Also roughly how much would you put down each time. I have access to 50000 but certainly would prob be too scared to invest that. But I will def practice for a few weeks first.
