Business idea

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 05/05/2020 12:31

I have a very good business idea for online education in a niche area and I have many expert contacts who I can call on as contributors.

Unfortunately I have no capital to invest myself and the government requires some financing in place before applying for a set up grant.

Does anyone have any experience of angel investors? Where do I stand with ownership if I can sell my idea/vision?

Grateful for any advice.

I would try your local business gateway. They can sometimes give small grants or direct you to funding sources.

Thank you. I'll take a look.

Hi OP, I invest in startups
Re angel investors, you’ll need to be clear on the type of funding you’re looking for I.e. debt or equity and what percentage you’re willing to give. I would start pulling together a pitch deck if you haven’t done so already. You can do this yourself and get someone to review it.

Hi Eurobound , do you mind giving me some advise on becoming an investor with of start up businesses ? how safe is it? are you legally protected ?

You should look at the SEIS and EIS schemes. With a business plan and the help of an accountant HMRC could approve their investment and give them a 30% income tax refund. That sweetens the investment for them and makes the net investment look more attractive.

@Eurobond, where does one find an angel investor? For my business, I spent so much time trying to get an investor onboard, but most only invest in tech and my business was in another industry.

Very good business ideas shared by you on this topic and I also searching for the computer repair business plan and I found the OGS Capital site for it. I appreciate your plans but it's related to the education business. But really I like it.

I had a similar idea (hopefully not the same one) for a business I co-created for online business education for school kids a few years ago. I called it The Junior MBA and In the end I didn't know anyone to fund it. We used Lean StartUp principles to generate some cash flow and reinvest. It took off a little bit slower, but I can now confidently say that the entire business is mine and I don't have to pay back anyone or share my equity. If I can help in anyway, please let me know and we can bounce ideas. It would be a shame to let the idea go to waste.

I'm curious to learn if you got your business launched? Did you find the support you need to get it off the ground?
