Small windfall - what to invest in?

I've received a small windfall of £500. Rather than just fritter it away like I usually do I would like to invest it, and then potentially add a small amount to it monthly (say £20-30).

I've got a mortgage, 14 years left but planning to overpay to pay it off sooner. I have a SIPP, and am contributing to a local government pension scheme. I'm 52 and would like to retire/not depend on full time employment sooner rather than later (although I am obviously not expecting a £500 investment to help with that one Grin). My attitude to risk is 'medium'....

Any ideas?

Regular saver account? Can get up to 5% interest on some accounts.

A stocks & shares ISA?

Thanks for replies - think I'm looking for something with a bit of 'excitement ' so ISA probably best bet. Wondered about something like a kickstarter project too, although that's not as obviously an investment.
