40k inheritance WWYD?

Hello advice please? I have 40k and don't know what to do with it. I've put it into a fixed isa which expires this year.

I don't own property & am self employed so live with family instead. I used 10k to pay off debt & buy a car so have 40k left.

I'm wondering what to do with it when the ISA expires this year?

I'm not working at the moment due to maternity leave. My partner is also self employed so the chance of us getting a mortgage any time soon is limited.

WWYD?

I'm rubbish with this kind of thing. Had my DC really young (single teen mum) so have been focusing on keeping afloat rather than any kind of plan.

Deposit on your own place?

I would look into mortgage options. Being self employed isn’t a write off.

If that was still an issue I’d look into savings until I could decide what to do/something came up or a mortgage was more achievable but would probably put some in an account for DC too like a junior isa for them in the future.

Meanwhile, i would put the maximum (which i think is 30k) in premium bonds,

Tax free and .... you never know.
