I'm quite embarrassed to admit this but YEARS ago (15ish), I put some money in an ISA. I believe it was Alliance and Leicester. I can not find any paperwork or details because we have moved house since then. Do A&L still exist? How do I go about finding details about it and more importantly getting my hands on the money? Its about £2000.
Thank you

Allience and Leicester is now Santander. Try calling them up. The people at your old address might have returned your statements to sender so you might have to prove you are who you say you are. I had to do this recently I had to take photo ID to one of their branches. Good luck

Start with www.mylostaccount.org.uk/help.htm

Alliance and Leicester is part of Santander now.

See their help section for tracking down an old savings account.
www.santander.co.uk/uk/savings/savings-faqs
By using MyLostAccount you should be able to confirm that your account is now held by Santander and thus can then submit the trace request form to Santander.

You will need some evidence that the account existed, so keep hunting for something... anything that may give something to go on other than your memory that it might be an A&L account.

Brilliant, thank you. I'll get searching. Weirdly I got an email from Santander today saying "we miss you"...

That could be a scam email, don't click on the link in the email! Google Santander!

nannynick · 01/08/2017 23:35

Yeah, I wouldn't click any link the email from Santander... only go direct to their website. At this stage you don't even know if the account is with them... so use the MyLostAccount service provided by the banking association and building society association to start the trace.

Was it a cash ISA or stocks and shares ISA do you remember?
