Potentially will have £30 to invest next spring (assuming the house that we are selling does)

Thoughts so far:
Overpay on our mortgage,
Premium bonds,
Isa's

Any other safe suggestions are welcome!

If you are not anticipating needing it in the foreseeable future, I'd overpay on the mortgage without a doubt. It's a lovely feeling to make the last payment and know you own your own home.

Hastalapasta · 14/07/2017 16:51

Thanks Back that is what I was hoping to do!

If you're a higher rate tax payer, do consider the tax benefits you could have by paying into a pension.

Premium bonds odds keep dropping and with inflation well over 3%, money vanishes.

Isa rates pitiful so money also vanishes.

Reduce mortgage.

Put towards retirement planning... pension and mortgage.

If you don't already have some emergency fund, then keep back around 3 to 6 months of expenditure and put in an easy access account. You won't get much interest but it's there for a rainy day (redundancy, major house disaster such as flooding, travel expenses to get to a relatives funeral, big unexpected expenses).

Thanks nanny.

Think I am falling into the trap of thinking that retirement is really far away but really time is speeding up! Definitely will pay more into the pension plan.

We all did that once Hastal, but now it's creeping up fast, I'm happy that we invested in our pension when we did.

Maybe have a great family holiday (making memories is an equally important investment imo) and put the majority into a pension.

Holiday? What's a holiday?!Grin

Maybe in a few years when nappies are a distant memory we could an amazing trip. Lovely idea, thanks ajandjjmum
