Bare Trust - Child - which funds?

I have to set up a Bare Trust, which won't be accessed for at least ten years. I would like to put it in to stocks and shares/funds and I'm not adverse to something more risky due to how long the money is being invested. Does anyone have any tips as to the best funds/stocks and shares at the moment?

How much are you talking? It might be worth taking advice as a bare trust opens up many more options.

However that said;

I wouldn't chase 'the best' funds, that changes, you pay more and frankly many underperform. Try Vanguard lifestrategy funds for excellent value.

I would second having a look at the Vanguard Lifestrategy range.

Have a look at Hargreaves Lansdown. They offer tons of funds, all of which can incoporated into a bare trust. They also have a list of top funds that they recommend.

DH & I have had some Jupiter and Fidelity European funds for many years which have not failed to deliver over the long term, plus a diverse portfolio of other funds, v few have let us down! However we do drip feed money in monthly, to iron out peaks and troughs. You should be able to do that with a bare trust account too.

Assuming it is for your DC, then also consider investing the max you can yearly via a Junior S&S ISA.

We are just starting to manage money for our DD in a bare trust, but slightly different as she will turn 18 in 18mths, so will then be able to put a lot more annually into her S&S ISA, meaning we under less pressure to get max gains in next 18mths. Some of the money will just stay as cash
