How the flip do you choose a pension plan?

My partner's pension plan is closing and we will need to reinvest the money in a different plan.

Mine is with a major bank, but I'm looking around at other options.

How on earth do you decide? I realise that overall it's a gamble, but what difference does it make which one we choose? It must make some difference, surely?

(NB we are talking very very small amounts here, not worth seeing a financial planner for yet. We are on the bones of our arse(s) right now!)

If its very small you want something cheap & simple really. A stakeholder with an insurance company or maybe see about the comparitive fees for a hl vantage sipp.

The money advice service is a good resource.

there are lots of "diy" providers - comparing their fees is step 1. the harder part is what on earth to invest it in as there are so many different fund to choose from
