Do I need to aspirate before Prontogest injections after FET?

I had my FET and am currently having to inject a Prontogest every other day. I have been getting really mixed messages about whether I am meant to be aspirating before pushing the plunger on the needle to make sure I am not injecting into a vein,
or whether this info is now outdated.
my clinic have said I don’t have to if injecting into my hip but I am worried I might inject a vein by mistake! Are people doing this, or is it not necessary any more?

Hi Flowerpot, I'm currently injecting lubion daily into my tummy. The prefilled syringes come with air inside them. This freaked me out at first as I remembered ensuring there was no air bubbles when I prepared injections previously, so I looked into it and found it was that way on purpose. Apparently that little bit of air helps to push out the last bit of the medication. Also the needle is so short, it couldn't possibly hit a vein when coupled with pinching your fat in the correct location. I do sometimes get drops of blood, but that's just surface vessels being broken and nothing to be worried about. I'm not sure on your needle length, or if you're mixing yourself, but hopefully this gives you some comfort 😊

I'm doing prontogest injections into the upper outer quadrant of the buttocks and my clinic told me to make sure there are no air bubbles in the needle and to aspirate. I asked what to do if blood is seen in the syringe and they said to remove the needle and to discard the whole syringe and needle as well as the meds inside. You then set up a new prontogest injection and do it in a different location. Having said that, our syringes are very stiff so I'm not sure how effectively my partner actually manages to do the aspiration part...

Prontogest goes into the muscle whereas Lubion the previous poster mentioned goes into fat and the needles aren't so long for that. I did not aspirate Lubion injections when I did them in the past but I don't know if that's to do with injection location/tissue type or because a different clinic taught me those injections.
