One unsuccessful ICSI round at 40 and unsure what to do next

Started ivf process last may (2025). Had one unsuccessful Icsi round in January. I produced two eggs, one of which matured, and the transferred one didn’t take. Nothing available to freeze. Turned 40 end of the year so subsequent goes not available on nhs. With only a 5% chance at a cost of £7000+ we really can’t afford to go through it again with those odds. We have a video consultation next month but I really don’t see where we go from here. Anyone had similar experiences or thoughts?

You could look at access fertility. I got 2 rounds including meds for around £12000. That includes all transfers.
did you get an amh test? What dose stims were you on?
it took us 5 egg retrievals before we got success. The first 3 goes were pointless because the medication dose was too low and I wasn't getting many eggs x

I know I was on the lowest dose as they admitted the first round is like a trial to see what happens. The money just isn’t easily accessible for us and the fact I only
produced two eggs really got me down. Now I’m older I can only assume that number will lessen rather than grow with another round. I’ll try looking into that though! X

I was actually going to apply for one and look at donor eggs abroad xx

They did say and it was all quite positive though I know it was all over my head at the time and I didn’t take it in like I maybe should have. Did consider donor eggs but had my heart set on my own, which I know makes it awkward when there are so many options out there. See how it goes next month but I’ll store these for future research, thank you so much x

If you're not considering IVF with donor eggs, it may be worth looking into IVF treatment abroad. In the Czech Republic and Poland, IVF can cost from around €1,500, making it a more affordable option. It may help you determine whether this could be a realistic option for you.

Oh wow didn’t think of that, thanks for the info! I do think this is the last year we can realistically consider anything so open to options :)
