42 and starting IVF treatment tomorrow - would love some company for the journey ☺️

Hi ladies, so, as the title reads, I start the injections tomorrow evening. I have an appointment with my clinic (Care) tomorrow morning for the baseline scan and to get the treatment plan. Meds have arrived so we are ready to go! My AMH is 8.3 with follicle count of 14.

I had my son via IVF 11 years ago and was very lucky that it worked first time and on the NHS. This time it's private and costing a fortune. This is the only shot we have at this so we are feeling the pressure for sure.

I fell pregnant last month naturally (first time ever due to PCOS) but that ended in a chemical at 5 weeks. We are opting for PGTA testing and keeping everything crossed for a euploid.

Is anyone else starting this journey?

It was called Zivafert. I had to mix it really similarly to how I mixed Menupur, but then as I said to save 2 x injections, I sucked it back out of one and put it in to dissolve the other. Far too much faff!
do you get an update tomorrow @Magix86? And @Onesaddogyou must get your blastocyst update soon?

Magix86 · 24/06/2026 22:21

@overwork oh that does sound like a faff!! Bet you're glad it's all over now in terms of the injections! I had gonal f for stims which was a preloaded pen so nice and easy! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow!! Yes I'll get an update tomorrow on how many eggs were mature and how many fertilised. Feeling quite anxious about it to be honest.

@Onesaddog thank you. I think your next update will be tomorrow? Will also be thinking of you and hoping you get good news!

Magix86 · 25/06/2026 09:27

How is everyone doing today?
I had a call from my clinic this morning and feeling quite down to be honest. Out of our 16 eggs collected, 12 were mature but only 8 fertilised with ICSI. So we've already lost 50% and it's only day 1 😒 I've asked them to update me again on day 3 as otherwise they were just going to keep going and not call me again until Tuesday and I just can't wait that long!
I know if it was anyone else I'd be saying to stay positive and that 8 is a good number but I guess it's different when it's you isn't it. This whole thing is pretty brutal

overwork · 25/06/2026 09:43

As we said to @Onesaddog, it does only take one, but hearing that they’re depleting in numbers is just awful. Were you always having ICSI? Let’s hope the ones that are left are the strong ones and you get an update that leaves you feeling more positive in 3 days

Sheffters · 25/06/2026 10:01

@Magix86I did the same with a day 3 call as I just couldn't wait and wanted dtinbe prepared. It's so horrid to hear the numbers going down so fast. As disheartening as it right now, having 8 fertilise is still brilliant!
Keeping everything crossed for you.

My OTD is tomorrow. I am testing faint positive at the moment. Have had cramping, spotting etc but the tests are light and that is worrying me as was the same with my chemical in April. It was a little lighter this morning than yesterday but my urine was very diluted as had been up to pee so many times during the night. Currently trying to do a 4 hour gold to see if that makes a difference. I am not hopeful though and pretty sure I am out. X

Typing terrible there! To be that should read and hold not gold! 😂

Magix86 · 25/06/2026 10:16

Thanks ladies 🥰 I know I should be grateful to even have 8 and I'm only down because I'm comparing it to our last round! On our last round we had 11 top quality embryos on day 2 and they didn't update us again until day 5 when it dropped to 2. I've read that day 3 is when the sperm take over so knowing a day 3 update I think will help us understand if it might be a sperm issue or egg quality.
We were always having ICSI as we're using donor sperm.

@Sheffters I'm sorry you're in this limbo with the faint positive. I'm guessing your clinic won't give you any further advice until your OTD tomorrow?

Sheffters · 25/06/2026 11:23

Looking much better today! I am not out yet!

I read this and assumed it was some known term meaning gold standard!

@Sheffters that looks great!!! Maybe it is in fact 4 hour gold lol.

@Magix86 you’re totally right that it’s easier to be positive for everyone else and then be a bit tougher on yourself but that’s what these communities are for. 8 is a fantastic number but it’s okay to be a bit down at the same time.

@Onesaddog howre you doing? @overwork that sounds like it was quite complicated to begin but I’m glad the clinic confirmed all was fine regardless.

Sheffters · 25/06/2026 17:25

@PearOpal😂😂😂😂 here's hoping! Xx

Onesaddog · 25/06/2026 19:11

Not great news for me - day three, two graded as poor and one as average. They were preparing me to not have any viable embryos

I get the disappointment @Magix86 seeing those numbers drop is horrible but you still have a good number

keeping everything crossed for you @Sheffters you are definitely not out!

Onesaddog · 25/06/2026 19:13

@overwork hope you got on ok today

Magix86 · 25/06/2026 19:36

Oh @Onesaddog I'm sorry 😞 it's heartbreaking with the drop off isn't it. Did your clinic not offer you a day 3 transfer or were you going to do PGTA testing? I'm sorry I can't remember if you've said already if you were hoping for a fresh transfer or not

overwork · 26/06/2026 09:36

Good morning! I hope everyone is doing okay. I can feel your disappointment @Onesaddogand I’m sorry. Still another day or two for your day 5 update? I had my egg collection yesterday. They got 6, which is slightly lower than we’d all hoped I think. Took me the rest of the day to process that and obviously I’ve been furiously Googling stats which does not give me much hope! Anyway this morning they called to say that 4 had fertilised so that’s probably the best I could hope for from that number. I spoke with the embryologist and we’re prepared for maybe only 1 to make it to blast. Which completely changes our plans, I won’t PGT-A one (bit concerned that the clinic are confused on that, I have made it clear all along that we will make our decision to test on day 5 dependent on numbers. But both the doctor doing the collection yesterday and the embryologist this morning said ‘and you’re going for PGT-A?’ so it’s obviously not gone onto my notes). I haven’t asked for a day 3 update so I’ll next hear from them on Tuesday. And then we’ll decide on next steps. I said we’d stop if the first round was a duff (as it would be my body’s way of showing me that it’s not up to it anymore even with help), but I reckon I’m going to get caught up in it all and want to try again.

Magix86 · 26/06/2026 09:52

@overwork well done for getting through the egg collection. Completely understand needing the day to process things. 4 fertilised out of 6 seems like a good result! Really hoping you have good news on Tuesday. I'm also stuck on googling stats and it's so hard to stop lol. I hope you can take some time to relax over the next few days. You've done the hard part now so it's up to those little embryos to do their thing!

Sheffters · 26/06/2026 12:26

@overwork we were in the same mind of only testing if we had 2 or more and the clinic were on board with that decision.

The stats googling was so hard. I am pleased you are getting a day 3 update, it definitely helps to prepare.

OTD for me and it's positive albeit light. I can see clear progress over the last 3 days in tests but I am concerned about how light it is. The clinic were brilliant this morning and called me in for a free blood test due to previous chemical and my worry. They will call later with the results and said that want it in the 100's. Then back Monday for another one. I am worried about another chemical but for now I am telling myself that I am pregnant, little Emby is clearly trying to grow and I just have to be at peace with that for now. X

Oh it’s just heartbreak after heartbreak isn’t it, when do we get to relax! So we’re hoping for good news from @Sheffters bloods today and I think a day 3 and 5 update tomorrow for @Magix86and @Onesaddogrespectively? And @PearOpal what are your next steps after what I would say was a very successful egg collection?

Onesaddog · 26/06/2026 12:51

@overwork, glad you’re through okay and come on little eggs, you can do it!

yes my day 5 is tomorrow but I’ve mentally counted myself out, I need to as I can’t cope with more disappointment. This was my one free go on NHS so will take a few days and think about whether we want to try and fund ourselves. They didn’t offer day 3 transfer and yeh going for fresh transfer. This is my first time so very much in their hands

oh @Sheffters i do hope so! ❤️❤️

PearOpal · 26/06/2026 16:00

@Onesaddog I’m so sorry. I understand wanting to guard your heart at the point but I’ll stay hopefully for you. Take your time - if you ever want to talk about alternative options I’m doing IVF in Greece but I did look at some other countries if local private maybe doesn’t feel affordable.

@overwork glad you made it through alright. Take some time to rest!

@Sheffters Oh I’m so excited for you! We can use some positive news on this thread. Hopefully the clinic gets back to you with a good number but no matter what it’s the steady increase that matters not necessarily where you start.

Im just waiting for AF so I can start prepping for my FET but she’s clearly taking her time. The clinic told me 10-14 days and I’m in that window but it’s so hard to keep waiting. I did notice some odd discharge today though so I’m going to keep an eye on it. Hoping it’s not the beginnings of an infection and just a sign that ERs are hard

Sheffters · 26/06/2026 16:02

@PearOpal one of the only times we are desperate for AF to arrive!! Hope she does soon.

Morning all, unfortunately beta tests came back at 14 so this pregnancy won't continue. We are ok and had mentally prepared ourselves for this. We are now going to look into egg donation due to my age.

Wishing you all success on your journeys xx
