Negative tests 7 to 9 days after FET, when to stop meds?

I have tested negative following FET both on clear blue and first response tests day 7,8,9. Being realistic that’s pretty definitive right? I’m gutted it hasn’t worked but keen to get off the meds asap as they are not making me feel good

I'm sorry! Was it a 5 day embryo? My clinic's test day wasn't until 13 days post transfer so I wouldn't until then personally although I know that's quite late for most other clinics. Have they not given you a test day or instructions?

I’m sorry that things aren’t looking good at this stage. However, I’d keep on with the meds until you’ve been instructed to stop. I’ve been in your shoes and it’s really disheartening to plough on with a cycle like this so I get it but still don’t think you should stop early just in case.

Don’t want to give false hope but you fo hear of outlier cases with late positives so wouldn’t want to potentially jeopardise that. If you really want to stop sooner speak to your clinic so you can at least weigh up the odds and make an informed choice to stop early.

@Jim55 sorry to hear this, my clinics official test date is 10 days after 5 day transfer but they say you get a positive from day 7. I was the same with my negatives I just wanted to be off the meds asap 1 as they make you feel like crap and 2 to save them for the next round 😂

Im sorry your tests are negative. As someone else said about clinics having later tests days. My clinic also doesnt do a beta until up to 14dp5dt . Though for me personally I know im out if I havnt got a line by no later then 8dpt and then I usually start bleeding 9dpt so then im instructed to stop the meds. Its devastating to get a negative test and its hard to think of next steps and what else you can do. I have had a negative hpt all the way up to 10dpt but a very low positive beta bloods at 13dpt but unfortunately ended in a chemical so I guess late implantation occurs but how viable it is, is another story.

Hi Op, sorry to hear you’re going through this. My clinic’s OTD was 14 days post transfer. My first FET I got a faint positive on day 5 (later MMC), so when I did my second FET and got negatives on FRER (and other tests) from 5-10dpt I took a personal decision to stop meds after I had completed my day 10 meds and taken one last test (ie tested then no meds on 11dp5dt). I’ll probably be told off on here for this position but it was a personal decision. I (like you) could see loads of examples of other clinics’ OTD being 10dp5dt and I just wanted the meds over so I could move on.

hope you are ok whatever you decide.

Just to add to PP’s point above. Viability was a massive consideration for me. I went down a research rabbit hole for my first transfer due to the embryo measuring small etc. and I couldn’t find any anecdote nor research paper that gave an example of a late implantation/positive actually resulting in a viable and healthy pregnancy. I guess there is maybe an example out there but I really couldn’t find it!

I sort of have an example but it was with a day 3 embryo transfer. I tested negative all the way up to 9dp3dt which is equivalent to 7dp5dt and the line was so faint my husband classed it as a negative and i guess with my logical mind he was correct. at 11dp3dt which is equivalent to 9dp5dt I tested again and it got slightly darker but guess that would have been classed as my first bfp though was very light so id say I had late implantation. My first beta at 14dp3dt was only 96. At my 7 week scan the embryo measured 6+2 but saw a flicker. I was told its possibly was not viable considering my hcg was slow to rise also though technically still in the brackets of normal, every 3 days it doubled. We prepared ourselves for a loss, we also did all the research on viability with late implantation but at each weekly scan it grew the full week but all the way through the pregnancy the little soldier stayed 5 days behind in measurements so my dates were changed. That little embryo is now a 4yr old toddler that gives me grief hahah I dont know how he was successful because everything I have read says its unlikely but I guess it does happen.
