Extremely low sperm count and the chance of ICSI actually working 😭

We’re doing ICSI due to my partners severely low sperm count, by low I mean 19. He’s done 2 frozen samples and now has 4 straws. We do already have a daughter conceived naturally back in 2020, his count was around 220,000 back then as we were about to start ICSI. Since then it’s a lot lower.

Has anyone else had success with ICSI with such a low number? I’ve asked about DNA fragmentation and zymot etc. but told his count is too low. I’m terrified with such a low number and other parameters also not being great it’s going to fail miserably. I’m currently in my down reg and the anxiety has suddenly hit 😖

Did the clinic ever mention a testicular biopsy? Taking the sperm directly out of the testicle at the same time as your egg retrieval at doing ICSI? That was an option for me and my husband at the time but if I remember rightly the sperm might be less mature then 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess the beauty of ICSI is the fact that they choose the best, healthiest, sperm to fertilize the egg. All you need is one!
I feel like we’ve all been there with the anxiety, no matter what the situation is, low sperm count, few eggs, etc We naturally worry about it because we want it to work so badly and it’s out of our control 😩 Please try to relax, don’t stress too much and take care of yourself. Good luck on your journey 🍀

Hi, sorry to jump on an older thread. My husband also has a low sperm count (460,000) and we have our first consultation with a fertility clinic this week to discuss our options. When you said you conceived naturally in 2020 with a sperm count of 220k, do you mind me asking how long it took you to conceive? Hearing this gives me great hope, as I presumed with a sperm count of 460k it was almost impossible to conceive naturally

@Ziggy2025 it took about 16 months. Whether it helped or not but the month before we conceived we got a puppy and the month we did conceive we only actually had sex once 😂 we were fighting a lot so it very much I’ve got a positive ovulation test, get on with it haha. X
