Advice. Lots of follicles, 1 egg (early ovulation after trigger)

Just looking for advice really. Had my egg retrieval this morning (wed) after Mondays scan showing a good follicle count for my AMH (about 20 with 4 above the line and others just under). However when they went in to retrieve they said I have ovulated early and released most of them so only one egg has been retrieved. I'm remaining optimistic that this egg is my miracle egg! However my mind is racing and I'm annoyed this feels like if id been seen a few hours earlier for my retrieval I might have had lots of eggs. Can anyone tell me if they ovulated early what was changed for the next cycle? To avoid this happening again.

Sounds as though they miss calculated your trigger with your collection time. I would talk to your clinic about this or your medication that you were taking to stop ovulation might need assessing. I had something similar but my follicles grew all over the place. I had 3 follicles all leading well ahead of the others and seemed as though I had ovulated one of the follicles before my collection and then ended up with 2 other eggs after collection, over mature and they "fell apart" under the microscope. 2 other eggs wouldnt fertilise and the other eggs were all immature so we had a completely failed cycle. My new cycle has an increase of stims with are shorter stim cycle. Hoping this will grow my follicles a little more evenenly and avoid any early ovulation.
