IVF/assisted conception criteria - does your area count a chemical pregnancy as a pregnancy in terms of criteria?

In read something for my area which said the words “clinical pregnancy” but another website (the clinic the nhs uses in my area) just says “pregnancy”, in terms of not being able to access treatment if you’ve previously been pregnant.

I’m so confused as to whether this means having had a chemical we wouldn’t be eligible? The chemical was shared with my gp so is on my gp notes and I’d initially registered with the midwives before the early miscarriage so guess that is recorded too?

I think it is normally only a live birth that normally counts? Or at least in the NICE guidance?

My husband had quite extreme MFI and we had a miscarriage at 7 weeks before discovering it a few months later.

We were eligible for NHS IVF and there were no issues with a previous miscarriage. We got super lucky and had a baby first round, my son is now 11 months old!

I would ask your GP for a referral ASAP. Wishing you all the best.

Ok that’s reassuring! Congratulations on your baby 😁

Sometimes a conception of any kind is counted as not having sub fertility and it restarts the clock for IVF. Maybe you can say you were mistaken.

Policies vary by area - you'll be able to find your local care board's eligibility criteria online. Some count the duration from the first time of trying to conceive.
