HCG rising but not doubling after FET- success stories please

I was delighted to see strong positive tests on 9dpt5dt, and my first HCG on day 10 was 208. I did a repeat test yesterday as the clinic said it’s more important to see the number doubling on day 12, and it came back at 360. They are going to have me back in tomorrow to do another one, but have concerned me as they said “for now we’d like you to stay on the medicines” and essentially sounded like for me to prepare myself.

I’m feeling so anxious today, as this is my first positive pregnancy test following an ectopic last year. Does anyone have similar stories please?

Congratulations on being PUPO! I really do hope your HCG picks up and it’s a healthy pregnancy.
I have had slow rising betas before where they almost doubled or just about doubled but never went above and unfortunately it had ended in an early miscarriage. However I did not have overly strong lines on day 9 and my clinic don’t do bloods until day 14 or after. I hope that because your test was quite strong it will all work out for you and your little one ❤️

Mine were checked at 5weeks - increased by 70% over 48 hours, so more of a 72 hour doubling time (very similar % to you). I got frogmarched to a&e as they said it was suboptimal (A&E did nothing and said it was NOT suboptimal) and my 6week scan was fine. All going ok so far and I’m 11w. Hcg is actually meant to double between 48-72 hours so this % in 48 hours is fine.

As long as no pain, bleeding and it’s around the 70% increase mark I’d say you’re all good but of course they prob just want to keep a closer eye with the ectopic. I’ve had 2 so can completely relate. Good luck x

Och sorry you’re going through this. I’m currently going through an ectopic, my bloods plateaued, then rose, then fell (and have been falling since). I will say from my reading every possible thread I could find (there’s a nice one on Reddit on the subject) that if my bloods had been rising but sub optimally (like yours), I’d have had way more reason to hope that they’d catch up. It was the stalling then rising that signalled the ectopic (or PUL) for sure.

But the internet has a lot of stories of early suboptimal rises that catch up nicely. Here’s hoping yours is one of those stories.

A 70% over 48hrs is not suboptimal (66% is the usual suboptimal baseline).

@FrostedFlake @Xwx1010 thank you for your responses! My third HCG came back at 830, so it’s back in the right direction and fingers crossed the only way is up!

@Nosejug so sorry to hear about your ectopic, it’s a rubbish club to be in and wishing you a smooth recovery- feel free to reach out if you want to talk more about it ❤️

That’s brilliant @MitchyTitchy ! A very big jump :) I’m on the other end celebrating a big fall 🙃 Best of luck with the next few weeks!

Nosejug · 23/04/2025 17:12

Oh and apologies for saying suboptimal I didn’t realise they weren’t

@MitchyTitchy great news! Hope all continues to progress well for you!! Xx

Ive had 2 pregnancies.
-one with very good (high) betas but not quite doubling, it was maybe going up x1.5-1.8 each 48 hours but not doubling. That ended up in a live birth.
-the other had doubling betas but low. Miscarriage at 6w
