Balanced Robertsonian Translocation / PGT

Hi all,

I’ve been on these threads for a while - 3 miscarriages, 0 children.

I have been through all the tests - seen many specialists, have been fortunate and received wonderful care throughout. However, I haven’t found a board for those of us with balanced translocations - which I have.

I have a Robertsonian balanced translocation I’ve got- 13:14 which means creating embryos that are viable is a struggle!

we have started Ivf with Pgt testing - only the first round failed - as we never got enough embryos to the testing stage.

I thought I’d document how I get on, in the hope that it gives anyone else out there in the BT boat that they’re not alone.

sending love and comfort to anyone that reads this! It’s a lovely place but we aren’t on our own

Thank you @JJ1121 and @26birdsong - my egg retrieval was yesterday. They got 27 eggs, all of which were mature, and we heard today that 16 have fertilised. We'll get an update as to how many blastocysts there are early next week, so trying to stay positive. I know that we're starting strong numbers-wise, but also know that it's totally arbitrary and it would be unwise to be too optimistic or hopeful at this stage.

I was pleasantly surprised as to how straightforward the egg retrieval procedure was, having been fairly nervous abut it before (especially about being uptight under, as I've never had that before). I'm now unpleasantly surprised as to how uncomfortable I am in recovery!

@JJ1121 I'm so delighted that it all worked out for you, it's really lovely to hear about your little one and gives me hope.

*put under, not 'uptight under'!

@CrackerBarrelBiscuits fantastic news! Hoping the best for you. Ah yes recovery was rough for me too (I think it can be more uncomfortable when you have more eggs collected). But I started to feel much better after a week and of course the embryo updates made things better. Wishing you all the best!
