How different are day 5 vs day 6 embryos? Why did I get so many day 6 PGTA tester?

I’ll start by saying that THIS IS FROM MANY CYCLES. I did not get this many in one cycle. It took over 6mo of pretty much non stop cycles and many many £££.

I have 10 euploids:
5AA Day 5
5AA Day 6
4AA Day 6
5AB Day 6
5BA Day 6
4BB Day 5
5BB Day 6
4BB Day 6
4BB Day 7
5BC Day 6

My questions are

  • how different are the probabilities of a live birth for day 5 v day 6 v day 7?
  • why are so many of my euploids day 6?

For context I’m 30. Unexplained infertility. I have one child aged 3.

This is a great haul - congrats!

There is a population level difference in the live birth chances between day 5 and day 6 and then day 7 (gradually reducing) but not necessarily for an individual. And not necessarily if frozen cycles - part of the reduced chances for days 6 and 7 is to do with the window of optimal endometrial receptivity in a fresh cycle. And again - not necessarily if euploid, as part of the stats reflect the fact slower developers are more likely to be aneuploid. Not the case for you here.

Those that reach full expanded blast on day 5 have hit their developmental milestones bang on target and are often prioritised over higher graded day 6s. However my clinic said they don't see a major difference between days 5 and 6.
