Buying own medication - clinic says no?

Hi all,

I’m about to under go a multi cycle of egg freezing. (3 rounds)

Most people I know sourced their own medication using a private prescription from their clinic.

However, when I just called my clinic and asked for a list of my medication so I could price around they told me that’s not something they offer and they do not do private prescriptions and all medication is to be ordered via themselves through fertility2u. Apparently it’s in their policy but I am struggling to find it.

Is this right? I thought I would have had a legal right to my own prescription?

Hi Op, they have to tell you this is the case pre- fertility treatment. See table 1 item 4 - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fertility-treatment-a-guide-for-clinics/a-guide-for-clinics.

I do think most will allow a private prescription (for a fee). Having said that in my experience fertility 2U isn’t uncompetitive price wise.

good luck!
