Ttc naturally with unexplained infertility

Ladyinpink1 · 08/03/2025 20:53

Hello 🙋‍♀️ I couldnt find a thread for those ttc naturally on the infertility section, thought it would be nice to chat to others in a similar boat. 🙂

We have been ttc for more than 2 years now, with 2 mmc at the start of this time, and nothing since.

Tests have been normal for us both...not sure what/if there are going to be any next steps as it isn't our first child and we wouldn't be paying privately for anything but am waiting for an hsg appointment.

@Muddysocks1 I have been trying to avoid it as well but my colleague is pregnant and coming up to her 20 week scan so she is getting a bump so it's right there in my face.
I feel so lost about what steps to take now.

It’s so tough 😔 has your partner been tested? Mines got his semen analysis coming up soon

Mummysparrow · 14/05/2025 08:39

@Muddysocks1 no not yet. I have requested an appointment with my GP to discuss the next steps and unsure whether to pursue it via NHS or go privately just so it can be done quicker.
Good news about your period. I am not doing acupuncture but I am doing reflexology

Ooh how are you finding reflexology?

For semen analysis, I think we had about an 8 week wait for the sample date. A friend has gone privately to save time. I wish we had because it feels like a question mark over whether it’s me or him - not in a blame way but where to focus our efforts (and money! It’s all so expensive)

Ladyinpink1 · 14/05/2025 20:09

Hello ladies 🙂 My dh has now had his analysis and his results are good, which should make me feel better but actually doesn't, because it means it must be something not happening on my end, and with all of our results being normal, there isnt anything we can do to fix it which is frustrating.
On the plus side, I had my hsg test done today, the dye spilled quickly so it was over fast and my tubes were clear, but the consultant said sometimes you can have success after because it opens everything up... Google also told me this. 😅

@Mummysparrow I recognise your name from previous threads we have been on together. Sorry to see you are still ttc as well x

That's really good about your period @Muddysocks1 Was it the same person prescribing the progestrone and doing the accupuncture? I would like to try something new this next month or two x

@Muddysocks1 i have had a reflexologist come to my house before and turn my front room into a spa, she is great but she only does it for stress. I have started seeing one for fertility and got another appointment tomorrow, don't love her as much but £47 for a relaxing foot rub that's supposed to help with fertility is not to be sniffed at 😂
I have actually gone and booked a semen analysis in for Monday for my husband privately. He is happy to do his part but is also so thrilled at the thought of wanking into a cup 😂😂😂
@Ladyinpink1 hey 👋 sorry to see that you are still TTC as well. I had surgery in January to remove endometriosis and correct my c section defect so this is the first month TTC since January and I built it up that would solve all my problems and I would get a positive this month 🤦

Edited

Fingers crossed that helps!!

no it was a private dr who prescribed the progesterone, from an online clinic ☺️

@Mummysparrow It's horrible getting your hopes built up, isn't it. Hoping you see results and get good news in these next few months x

I had both my first session of acupuncture yesterday, and consultation where I was prescribed progesterone so really hope that helps. I’ve noticed issues with my actual period (really light but painful cramps) and interestingly it arrived last night much more “normal” with no cramps, would be amazed if that’s positive impact from acupuncture already!

Was that your consultation with Dr Sami? Did you find it helpful?

Sorry for the delay - been on hol and trying to forget about all things ttc and hope that the magical 'oh I went on hol and got pregnant' would work...it did not!

Ah I’m sorry to hear that, it’s really rubbish 😔

yes I did find it helpful - waiting for microbiome test as think I’ll need antibiotics, and an ultrasound which is booked, and trying the progesterone. I am guarding my heart a bit this cycle as convinced myself the microbiome might be the issue but will use the progesterone and hope! Did you try progesterone this cycle?

I did the Daye microbiome testing and needed antibiotics.

I've now done 3 months with progestogen which was the plan and I need a new approach now I think. I will try to have a follow up consultation.

I was thinking ovulation induction for next step but I need to find out about the chances of success of that vs just biting the bullet and going for IVF. I'm 39 now so can't waste time.

Ah me too yes with Daye and starting antibiotics (need to pick up tomorrow when the pharmacy is back open). Did Dr Sami suggest a plan for if it doesn’t happen for you in 3 months? Did you have an ultrasound? He said ultrasound and potentially hysteroscopy, but also if no success naturally then IVF. I’m not sure I’m near ready for that yet, but am a bit younger.

Muddysocks1 · 27/05/2025 16:28

How’s everyone getting on?

I had an ultrasound today but waiting for the fertility dr to review. Looked like I only had follicles on one side, lining was 8.4mm (day 14, had a positive OPK) and biggest follicle on the small side, plus a fibroid that appears different to the one seen on a previous ultrasound. Not sure if these are things to worry about or not, so will see what they say

Mummysparrow · 27/05/2025 19:31

I have been thinking about doing the Daye testing, was it worth it then?
I am cd9 so just a few days away from my fertile period. I think I have lost a lot of enthusiasm tbh 😞

100% worth it! I did get the antibiotics from Plan Your Baby but I imagine GP might or you can buy them from online pharmacies.
I’ve got a discount code if you want it, think it’s 20% off.
The results said back within 10 days but it was only a few for mine, really quick

Mummysparrow · 27/05/2025 19:35

@Muddysocks1 did you do the full testing or the cheaper one? I was thinking th cheaper one as the other one is STIs and I had that checked at the GP not long ago when they were looking to refer me to gynaecology.
I have just done a thriva test to recheck my AMH levels so I am hoping that comes out well

I think I just did the standard one without STIs as ditto those were checked by gp.
fingers crossed re your AMH 🤞🏻

Mummysparrow · 27/05/2025 19:50

@Muddysocks1 oh I may have to get it then. Di you find getting hold of the antibiotics fairly easy then through plan your baby?
I think I have a code unless me using a referral code makes things cheaper for you?

Yes was v easy with Plan Your Baby, I just emailed the report and they sent back a private prescription for both me and husband. But that’s after the consultation and sharing medical history, allergies etc.
Oh no dw, glad you’ve got one ☺️

Ladyinpink1 · 27/05/2025 21:43

@Muddysocks1 Did they say how long that it would take the fertility doctor to review everything and get back to you? Sorry you are left hanging and not knowing

@Mummysparrow Hoping your enthusiasm increases when you get to ovulation time. What cd do you normally ovulate?

I'm getting on ok thanks. I am 3dpo, had my hsg this cycle, and the 3 cycles after are meant to be more fertile as it opens everything up, but I also had covid and it caused a strange extremely short period plus no fertile cm this cycle, both of which I have never had before so I would say this isn't a cycke to get excited about

Nope they haven’t said, they seem really speedy generally. I’m not sure if I need to book another consultation or whether they’ll just get in contact. I had a blood test alongside yesterday and that result has already come through by email so think I’ll just ask what next steps are.

im also seeing the GP today, was hesitant to say I’m doing any private investigations but think I will now as seems important info!

Ah that’s a shame re Covid - I noticed I had no CM last cycle after my chemical, and actually not much this month either. They say often you’ve got it it’s just further up and not visible though so perhaps it’s ok still? 🤞🏻

Ladyinpink1 · 02/06/2025 12:47

Hey, how is everyone getting on?

How did your GP app go?@Muddysocks1

I got a bfn this morning and I feel really gutted, normally i am sad, but ok with a bfn, and I sort of knew this wasn't a great cycle because of the covid but I think having the hsg and reading all of the positive outcomes had given me extra hope.

OP posts:
Muddysocks1 · 02/06/2025 21:24

Sorry about your bfn @Ladyinpink1 😔

my GP appt went really well and she’s referred to nhs fertility clinic.

ive started the progesterone this week, trying to be hopeful that it could happen this cycle but also like most the joy has been sucked out around it all now?

Ladyinpink1 · 03/06/2025 08:21

@Muddysocks1 That's brilliant, pleased that your GP was good and took you seriously. Hopefully not long until your appointment.
Yes the fun gets less as each month passes doesn't it. What cd are you now?
I find at the minute I'm thinking alot about how long i have waited for a bfp but even if/when I get one... that's only the first stage, then I need to see if it sticks. The thought of it all is alot 🤯. Well that was a cheery thought from me for so early in the morning 😂.

I honestly felt so much better from that appt!
Currently 6DPO/CD21, so only a few days until testing ready.
yeah I get that!! Next step is a Bfp but I feel hyper aware of everything that could go wrong, from an early chemical to a miscarriage further on etc. I’ve been listening to the World Girl Gang Ever podcast which in some ways has been comforting but actually it’s just opened my eyes to all the awful possibilities that has sucked even more joy from the thought of being pregnant. It now feels quite mechanical and functional rather than natural too!

CharlotteRae · 03/06/2025 16:32

Just wondering how you all got on? Currently over 2 years trying for my second…. One chemical in that time…. It’s tough! X
