Hi 😊

I had a scan at the epu today and a gestational sac, yolk, fetal pole with a heartbeat was found (flickering) so I was super thrilled. I’m 6+ 1.

Then after the sonographer said I was measuring at 5+4 and fetal pole measuring 3mm. She said that it can be out by quite a few days at this point but now I’m thinking maybe she isn’t used to ivf pregnancies and dating? I’m really worried now.. surely a heart beat at 5+4 is unlikely so not sure what to think! Has anyone experienced this? She was so positive saying congratulations but I’ve seen so many posts about this not ending well!

My Baby was measuring slightly behind on my early scan - 6+4 when he should have been 6+6, the IVF clinic confirmed that this was very common. I am now 24+4 and at my 24 week growth scan he was measuring over 25 weeks around the middle!

I know it’s really hard, as I have been anxious for my entire pregnancy following previous losses, but try not to worry. The sonographers are great at their jobs & the difference in gestational age is millimetres at 6 weeks.

Very best of luck x

Hi @PinaColadaJ thanks for your reply. Sorry for your previous losses. I also have had some. The last time I had an issue with slow growth but I never saw a yolk sac or a fetal pole so this is great for us although I can’t help but worry about sizing. I’ve read that fetal pole length in week 6 is anywhere between 2-7 mm so I’m hopeful xx

Completely normal to be a couple days either side of expected gestation. Could be something as simple as implanting a day late or taking a little longer then normal to implant and grow. My son was 5 days behind in our 7 week scan, my ivf clinic sent us to a specialist clinic to get better images. He stayed measuring 5 days behind all the way through the pregnancy and then still came out weighing an average weight at 7lb.
