IVF/ICSI February 2025 🌟 ❤️

Hi ladies,

Starting early with this thread in hope some are on a similar time frame!

36yo, been trying to conceive for 2yrs. Severe MFI as well as AFC of 3 and AMH of 1.9pmol/l

First IVF cycle with ICSI ended with a total failed fertilisation - 4 eggs collected, all mature but no fertilisation.

We have now switched to long cycle and added in DHEA, COQ10, melatonin, vitamin D, omega 3 alongside our fertility vitamins.

I should start my period end of Jan; and then start down-regulating February with transfer hopefully late February if I’ve worked it out right!

Anyone else on this mental torture of a ride?

@LuckyFlash great numbers how lovely to hear! 💜Waiting 5 days is pretty hard! Can you just give them a sneaky phonecall on Tuesday to see what's happening...can't do any harm can it.... It's the sort of thing I would do 😂I have no patience!

LuckyFlash · 16/02/2025 11:02

@ivfjourneyandme yeah that’s how I feel too! Just called the acupuncture place and as they specialise in fertility they are very flexible and said just come in before and after and they will make it work with my timings so that makes things easier

@Cherryblossom90 haha that’s a good idea! I might try it

RitaDsZ · 16/02/2025 11:40

Hello,
Wow a lots of updates here :)
My times are lining up with @spttc, had my period today and will do frozen transfer at next cycle.
Honestly a bit upset about this, as they never mentioned there will be a month gap...
Monday we had embryos frozen and the nurses wouldn't contact me until Friday, and then only because I sent a message on Thursday asking about next steps...
Then got a call from an angry nurse that my period is so close, we have no time for nurse planning and medicine for next cycle, it has to be after that ...

spttc · 16/02/2025 12:10

@RitaDsZ yeh that's annoying. Because apparently you can expect your period 7-10 days post egg retrieval so theyd have known that. I got mine yesterday at 10 days post EC - so my cycle was 23days long (usually always 28-30). I'm only missing a cycle because of pgt-a I'm waiting on those results so I knew there would be a delay. The only way there wouldn't be is if they started me on meds without knowing if i had any embryos that tested normal. So obviously not. But if you aren't testing surely they could have given you the prescription to start when you got your period!

Happibara · 16/02/2025 16:18

@RitaDsZ I'm sorry for the delay, it must be so frustrating!

If that's any consolation my clinic does not recommend doing FETs in the cycle immediately following EC, their opinion is that the post-EC bleed is not a normal period and the cycle following it may not be optimal either.

They insist on only doing FET after your period has arrived again to give best chance of implantation, apparently the statistics from their practice back this up, hopefully this will be the case for you!

@Cherryblossom90 Wishing you best of luck tomorrow!!!

My final update (day 6 arrived today) another 2 embryos biopsied and frozen. So the final numbers are:

10 Eggs collected
10 Mature
8 Fertilised via IVF
7 Embryos remaining in day 3
2 Embryos graded A on day 5 (1 transferred, 1 frozen)
2 Embryos graded C on day 6 (both frozen)

Overall I'm really happy with the outcome, considering it's our first cycle and I'm 41 💜

RitaDsZ · 16/02/2025 16:59

@Happibara thanks, it sounds much better :)
I wish my clinic would explain like this, but whenever I asked them, they just brushed off the question.

Your numbers sound good, I also had 4 good for freezing at the first round when I was 41 :)

Happibara · 16/02/2025 17:14

@RitaDsZ Absolutely, how are you supposed to have confidence if they won't explain? And the rude nurse telling you off has really crossed the line!

ivfjourneyandme · 16/02/2025 17:49

@Happibara wow, you smashed it! Fingers and toes crossed for you xx

@LuckyFlash I’m doing acupuncture this round but not planning on a transfer, I’ve had it weekly since start of January and hoping it will help with egg maturity so I don’t end up with only 4/13 mature again! It’s definitely done something to my periods but yet to see if it helps with anything else, I start stims tonight.

Allnew2021 · 16/02/2025 19:09

That is a really good outcome @Happibara. Fingers crossed for you!

Good luck with your stims tonight @RainbowFluff! I'm also doing acupuncture, initially to try and help my uterine lining thicken as a thin lining has been an ongoing problem for me. But I'm hoping it will help the ivf process in general.

YellowTack · 17/02/2025 09:54

Hi all,

Good luck for ladies about to start treatment or waiting for results!

Today was my official test date, so I have informed my clinic that I am pregnant. I still can’t really believe it! I am very very grateful that my only embryo stuck! I will have a viability scan on the 17th of March and will try my best not to stress too much in the meantime! Because of my previous MMC, I will really wait until my viability scan before letting me be too excited!

Cherryblossom90 · 17/02/2025 10:56

ET today went well 3AB embryo which I'm happy with 😍 Now just to hope it sticks. They are planning to freeze my second one tomorrow as its lagging behind by a day.

@YellowTack it's so exciting! Congrats!
So your clinic does the viability scan at 8 weeks then? I think ours does them at 6 weeks! I can't remember if you said your doing an NHS round, it might be how they do things with NHS funding? I wish I could take a leaf out of your book and not get to excited especially as I don't even have a positive yet 😂 and also a history of mc I really I should know better than to get my hopes up but just felt so happy and excited today!! Is your due date in October?

Best of luck with the stims @RainbowFluff

Iv attached the grading system diagram the clinic gave me as I found it really useful. Hopefully will be of use to others!

Cherryblossom90 · 17/02/2025 10:57

Sorry here's the grade table

IVF/ICSI February 2025 🌟 ❤️
captainsmal · 17/02/2025 11:01

@YellowTack hopefully 17th March comes quickly for you and all is well! 🤞🏻 that will be my ET transfer day if mine goes to plan lol
@Cherryblossom90 hope you have a nice chill 2ww now and positive news at the end of it! When is your otd?
My clinic does the scan around 6/7 weeks I think and I’m nhs funded so maybe it’s just individual clinics having different policies

Cherryblossom90 · 17/02/2025 11:51

@captainsmal my otd to contact the clinic will be the 26th of Feb. Which makes complete sense to me as my period would be due on the 25th if I wasn't doing ivf. The Lister thankfully doesn't do long waits for test dates! I think using mumsnet abbreviations I will be 9dp5dt (9 days post transfer with a 5 day old embryo transfered)

captainsmal · 17/02/2025 12:08

@Cherryblossom90 That makes sense then as it would be 14dpo on a normal cycle. All the best of luck to you!!

spttc · 17/02/2025 13:42

What's things to do to increase chance of successful implantation? Anyone taking aspirin? Anything else? I'm just starting to think about it now

Nads2210 · 17/02/2025 16:49

Hi all lovely to see so many positive updates!
Congrats to getting a BFP @YellowTack & @Cherryblossom90 hoping you get yours too!Any plans for the TWW?
Amazing numbers @Happibara hoping the good news continues for you
Good luck to those that are waiting for transfers 🤞🏼it's a success
& hoping for everyone that are due to start stims/down reg it's a smooth process & lots of healthy follicles to collect!
For myself if all goes well with thawing tomorrow i should have my FET ☺️
I did have a slight scare at my scan the nurse told me soon as she started scanning (to check lining) i most likely will not go ahead with transfer as she seen fluid but after calling in for a second opinion she realised she wasnt looking in the right place!!i didnt even realise she could get that wrong its a internal probe scan but everything looked as well as it should be tg
Keeping everyone in my prayers & thoughts please keep me in yours too xx

Cherryblossom90 · 17/02/2025 16:54

Here's to everything going well for you tomorrow @Nads2210💜

Happibara · 17/02/2025 17:55

@YellowTack Congratulations you've graduated to confirmed pregnant 🎉 I'm delighted for you, that one embryo must have been truly excellent 👌

@Cherryblossom90 That's wonderful news, welcome to TWW! (dare I say I'm fed up with it already?)
I'm particularly miffed your OTD is 2 days before mine 😄 Although there's no way I'll wait this long so what does it matter. I hope you can keep calm and patient

@Nads2210 that scan must have been so stressful for you! All the best tomorrow! 🤞🤞🤞

Nads2210 · 17/02/2025 18:31

Thank you @Cherryblossom90 &@Happibara sorry i missed your in the TWW hope the time passes quickly (from experience it seems to drag lol) you ladies planning to test on the dates given?or giving into the temptation to test early?!
I read somewhere someone tested early & was a neg but on the otd was a BFP so makes sense i suppose when they ask to wait to test
Super nervous & trying to refrain from allowing myself to dream & yet trying to stay hopeful!
Come on embabies stick!✨

Poppycock84 · 17/02/2025 18:47

Just sending so much love and good luck to all ladies whatever stage you are at, the nerves are real and it can be stressful each step of the way, well done for getting this far!

altho I’m on natural cycle doctors confirmed today they’d like me to start 150meriofert and fyrmedal too in a couple days. I’ve been so sad all day at the thought of putting the drugs in and maybe for nothing. Think I’m just scarred from previous experience. I need to figure out how to stay positive because I’m only just starting this cycle 🤦🏽‍♀️😬

Twittwoo2020 · 17/02/2025 21:41

Congrats @YellowTack 🎉🎉 Amazing news., keeping everything crossed for you over the coming weeks that it goes quickly for you!

@Cherryblossom90 great to see you had your transfer today. Hopefully the next two weeks don’t drag!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for the last couple of days! I’ve been so unwell since my egg retrieval, I only started to feel human again today. I still have clexane for another 9 days as well as some tablets. The bloat is on another level, hoping my period comes soon for a full reset. Because of the OHSS we switched to a freeze all cycle. We got an update today that 2 went into the freezer, really good grades. They’re monitoring one more and hoping to freeze it tomorrow so we will see. I’m still not entirely sure what happened during egg retrieval that caused so much internal bleeding but our consultant is going to do a full debrief with us later in the week. I got 2 phone calls a day since Tuesday so I definitely think they feel overly concerned about something!! I’m not sure when we will choose to do our frozen transfer, i’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and a tad bit traumatised from last week so we will probably give it a couple of months.

Cherryblossom90 · 17/02/2025 22:24

@Twittwoo2020 oh my goodness no wonder you do feel overwhelmed! You've really had a tough time 💜

Look after yourself, you've done really well to get (hopefully 3!) frozen embryos for your future!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 18/02/2025 07:09

@Twittwoo2020 that sounds like an awful experience. I am so sorry you were affected like this. I think it's really important that you have the debrief and understand what happened and why. I'd suggest writing some questions in advance as these things can be a bit overwhelming.

I agree that taking a bit of a break seems sensible. Let your body recover and take a bit of time to prepare yourself again. Flowers
