What are the stats of drop off from fertilisation to blasts to euploid at 30?

I know stats are stats and it all depends on the individual person, but how many euploids can I expect (on average) from let's say 30-40 eggs collected over several cycles? What is the drop off like between fertilisation and blasts, and blasts and euploids?
I am 30.

hi OP,

When I did my first freezing round at 31 I was told that for my age group (30-35 years):

  • of mature eggs collected 80% expected to fertilise
  • of those embryos still alive on day 3 30-50% of those are expected to make it to blast
  • of those blasts 40-60% expected to be euploid (bit of variation depending on the embryo grade here)

Hope that helps!

I was told about 45% would make it from fertilisation to day 5. Thankfully 7 out of 10 of ours made it so 70% but we did have lower fertilisation rate than 'normal'. I can't comment on my euploid rate as I've not had them tested but the embryologist said at my age (28) about 75% should be normal.

I think it's all just so hit and miss even the same person may get different %s each time. Good luck! 🥰

@StorkQuest have a look at Emma the Embryologist on instagram, she has some great stats about everything IVF including expected euoploid rate by age, and also depending whether its a day 5 or day 6 embryo. I'm 38 and I think expected euploid rate based on her stats for a day 5 was 58%. We got very lucky and got 5/7.

In terms of fertilisation, our clinic said expect 30% of fertilised eggs to make it blastocyst. However we had: Round 1 8 eggs, 5 fertilised, 1 blastocyst (euploid) and then round 2 with ICSI 9 eggs, all fertilised, 7 blastocysts, 5 euploid. They changed my meds to get more mature eggs as the first round had a few that weren't, and I think the ICSI helped roo, but shows how variable rounds can - these were back to back egg collections.

Hope that's helpful!
