Anyone else worried about the new Covid wave and how it impacts sperm?

Just about to start our second round of IVF after taking a break for the summer and I'm terrified that I'm hearing about more and more cases of COVID: sister in law, friend, husband's friend, colleague etc. There's research to say it impacts sperm for 3-6mo and I just can't face delaying IVF and having to wait longer.
Sadly DH loves his social life too much, says it's silly to shield and plans to go to a concert and a football match in the next couple of months.

I ann not sure that shielding is the answer either but if you want to Covid proof as much as possible he could always freeze a sperm sample now.

I've thought about this but I worry that it'll mean he's even more relaxed about things like diet. Already I'm the one that has to keep saying things like "maybe have some more broccoli?" , praise him like crazy for ordering a non alc beer with a mate etc, so I feel like if we freeze sperm he will be even more relaxed with diet. And then one frozen sample isn't as useful as actual good quality sperm that he can produce on the day when needed (plus more expensive as need storage costs and costs of procedure)

There is not usually a procedure to produce sperm (unless he is having surgical extraction). Sperm freezing costs are minimal and it’s not a bad idea to have a back up.

I can see you have posted in AIBU, you might get some very blunt responses so if you’re feeling fragile avoid it.

I have done many rounds of IVF and can understand some of the stress. I still travelled during the pandemic as my clinic was abroad. There’s no logic to your husband shielding and then going to work with colleagues who may have been at the same football matches or concerts. It already restricts your life so much, for me this would be a step too far and sounds like a potential source of friction between you.

I would freeze the sperm, just as a back up plan.

However, I would at least avoid going to large public gatherings indoors. If you get covid you also need to wait, can't remembers how long but it also affects eggs.

Hi, can you advise where you have found the information that it affects eggs please?
