@jas1996 good luck for your scan tomorrow. Sending positive vibes that twin 2 is still growing.

AnnieStar12 · 31/07/2024 22:54

@jas1996 good luck with the scan. Will be thinking of you x

@ThePeachGoose @DippyDuck19 @RunningOnHope aww congrats on the scans- it’s sooo lovely to see them all as they grow!

@jas1996 good luck today!!

had my 16 week appt yest and although no scan, did here the hb on the Doppler which was some nice reassurance since the 12 week scan 😊 less than a week till gender reveal 🩷💙

Natty2 · 01/08/2024 13:33

@DippyDuck19 so lovely to see your scan photos! I think we were on the may FET group together so really nice to see your progress.

@RunningOnHope and @Edf pleased to hear your appointments went well too!

@jas1996 good luck for today!

@HopefulllHolly how has your sickness been as the week's gone on? Mine has come back abit! But it always reassures me when it does 😅

HopefulllHolly · 01/08/2024 14:19

@Natty2 I feel rough as anything! It’s almost constant. My mums midwife for me is a family friend and she says it’s a good thing as it means hormones are high - but it doesn’t feel like a good thing! Whoever said that it should stop when you get to 2nd trimester lies! 🤣🤣 But I’m 15 weeks today - so edging closer to the halfway mark now which I’m trying to focus on.

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 01/08/2024 16:13

@Natty2 yes I recognise your name from the May FET chat. How far are you along now?

@HopefulllHolly it's meant to be a good sign but absolutely doesn't feel like it sometimes! My manager in the early days kept asking me how I was and when I said rubbish she was like GOOD!!! 😂 I've read some stories on here that the sickness continued to 20 weeks so really hope it starts to ease for you!

@Edf glad your appointment went well. It's lovely when you hear the heartbeat 💗

ThePeachGoose · 01/08/2024 16:25

@DippyDuck19 so pleased to hear that your scan went well and I love all of these screenshots! And just how impressive that on the 4d one they can inspect organs so closely

Congratulations @RunningOnHope so happy for you! You've crossed the week 12 mark!

Thanks @HopefulllHolly yeah, I'm finding the wait to 12 weeks easier as well, at least for now. I'll probably get nervous again a few days before, like I always do lol

@Edf happy to hear that your test went well and looking forward to hear about the gender reveal!

@jas1996 hope today went well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you

jas1996 · 01/08/2024 19:03

hi all! thanks for the messages 🙊
sadly we only have one thriving bean in there now but it’s okay as i always kind of knew that! and baby 1 really put on a show, they were moving and waving at just 10 weeks?!?

i couldn’t believe it! officially graduated from my ivf clinic, i have 3 days left of progesterone then im into the big nhs world in 2 weeks for my 12 week scan - cant believe this is actually my life, finally!

DippyDuck19 · 01/08/2024 20:07

@jas1996 so sorry that twin 2 didn't make it. It sounds as though you are managing ok all things considered and were kind of prepared for that scenario. Fantastic that twin 1 is thriving and what a milestone being discharged from your ivf clinic!!! Count down to the next big milestone... exciting!

HopefulllHolly · 01/08/2024 20:29

@jas1996 Congratulations on your healthy energetic little bean in there! 😍 and sorry to hear about the other twin. It’s really surreal thinking about being actually pregnant after ivf isn’t it! I still keep feeling like it’s not real!

AnnieStar12 · 01/08/2024 22:15

@jas1996 congrats on your healthy bean! And I’m sorry about the twin. I know you were prepared, but hope you’re managing okay.
Wonderful feeling leaving the ivf clinic for the last time :)

jas1996 · 02/08/2024 21:58

I’ve never had so much post in my life since being pregnant! Had a letter today to say my blood type is D Negative so I will need a blood test to see if baby is a positive blood type as it can be dangerous … Is anyone else in this boat, I have never heard of this before?! Apparently D Negative is a rare blood type to have, I also did not know that!
Trust it to happen to me ha :D

HopefulllHolly · 02/08/2024 22:09

@jas1996 Oh gosh! No I didn’t know that! My blood type is the most common one - typical me! 🤭 Not sure why that would be - nothing on Google about it? Get you with your superhero blood! 😉😀

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 03/08/2024 05:36

@jas1996 sounds like you have anti d antibodies. If baby is positive then you will have an injection after 28 weeks to protect baby (and possibly same again after delivery). You will probably be monitored a bit more closely.

This is more accurate wording😂 Can you tell I have no idea what I’m talking about!

ThePeachGoose · 03/08/2024 09:28

@jas1996 So pleased that twin 1 is thriving in there and you got to graduate from your IVF clinic, AND the progesterone. Sorry to hear about twin 2, but your expectations were well managed at least and it’s fantastic that you despite the odd we have in IVF, you came on the other side with a strong baby that’s hitting all the milestones 🥳

With the Rh-, I wouldn’t worry too much about it if this is your first pregnancy and just go by the doctor’s lead, they seem to be on it. It’s mentioned in both of my pregnancy books and in both they were saying that it’s less of a problem in first pregnancies. But going through it once, you develop antibodies (to protect your body against these cute foreign bodies) and on the second pregnancy they’ll recognise the “foreign body” sooner and might kick up sooner and harder, so it’s much more likely that you’ll need treatment in a second pregnancy.

In the books they were saying that if you’re negative, they’ll test the dad too to see if he’s positive (which most people are), and then the baby. And I think it’s more of a monitoring situation and the antibodies usually kick in towards the end of the pregnancy in the first one, so too late to do any damage. But definitely mention it at every appointment if they’re not on it, to check and monitor baby is fine.

I took a special interest in this topic as I was convinced that my mum was Rh- but turned out that she just had a different blood type to the rest of the family 😅 when I get back home tomorrow, I can send you photos of what it says in the books.

Hi lovely's, sorry I've been absent for a while. Just been plodding along trying to keep myself awake 😅 😴

How is everyone doing?

@Edf awww I'm sorry you've been having a hard time. It's incredibly brave to talk about it and I'm so glad you've put help in place & someone to talk to. You're a very strong mummy!!
I hope you receive amazing help and start to feel better soon.
I'm so glad your 16 week appointment went well & you heard your baby's heartbeat 😍

@lemonyfox I've just started with the juicy fruit!!! I've started buying tinned fruit just to get the super juiciness 🤣 my partner thinks I'm going mad 🙈 (in a good way)

@HopefulllHolly awww your scan picture 😍😍 it's so incredibly clear!! What an amazing picture. Your little baby girl was having a party for you 🥰 so cute! I'm glad she's doing well.
I have no idea where my placenta is, I wasn't told in my 12 week scan, but I haven't felt any movement at all yet so I'm guessing mine is like yours! I can't wait to start feeling the butterflies, just for some reassurance mainly, I imagine it's the best feeling in the world.

@DippyDuck19 I was also planning on getting a few scans down between 20 weeks to the birth just to keep an eye on the baby.

@ThePeachGoose your work sounds so busy!! How you have the energy I don't know, you are a trooper that's for sure!! The crowds issue must have been hard, especially as you had no choice but to participate! I hope the masks helped & you haven't caught anything .. how are you feeling?
I'm so glad your scan went well & baby is growing beautifully! And your haematoma is shrinking! Thats fabs news.

@LouP87 people keep telling me that in the second trimester is when you start to feel back to normal & well again & don't feel pregnant at all - so I'd imagine you have reached that milestone! Which is both amazing but also not very reassuring. I'm sure your little baby is doing well & growing fast!! Your 20 week scan will come around sooo quickly.

@AnnieStar12 I'm in that award stage wear I have a tiny bump but doesn't look like a real bump yet so to everyone else I've just gained weight. My jeans are too tight to do up, like most things with buttons & zips! But maternity clothes don't fit just yet so I'm just living in pj bottoms when I can! 🤣
Awww I'd love to feel the baby move - I hope you have felt them!! Apparently it feels like butterflies at first (what the midwife told me) and I bet it's the best feeling ever.

@DippyDuck19 your 4d scan picture! 😍🥰 how amazing!!! Wow that's so lovely to see your little baby boy in 4d ... makes it seem even more real! So glad your baby boy is doing well & your heard his little heartbeat 🥺😍
Aww, that poor couple for you! That's my biggest fear, that's so incredibly sad!

@RunningOnHope I'm so glad your 12 week scan went well! Such a relief to get to that point isn't it.

@jas1996 I'm so sorry that only one twin made it, that's such sad news. I'm so happy though that you do have one very healthy baby!! You are such a strong mummy!!! I think you have done amazingly well.
I'm sure you'll get the best care with your blood type - I also had no idea about it all!

Fluffyted · 04/08/2024 14:12

I had my 16 week midwife appointment on Friday but the computers were down so she couldn't access my pregnancy record or anything (as it's all on the app - no paper trace)
So nothing really happened. I was in & out within 5 mins. She tested my blood pressure which was fine and urine which was also fine and that was it.
She said they don't listen to the baby's heartbeat at 16 weeks, she said "it's too early".
It was quite sad & disappointing really. I was expecting a bit more lol. She did say most women are disappointed by the 16 week appointment because we have such high expectations.

My next appointment will be at 24 weeks, she said she'll listen to the heartbeat then.

I think it's a shame how different midwives work in different areas, as they don't seem to be following the same guidelines for the appointments, I was so excited for her to listen to the baby's heartbeat just for some reassurance really to make sure the baby is still ok.

HopefulllHolly · 04/08/2024 15:09

@Fluffyted Hello! Good to hear from you and glad you’re doing ok! Nice to hear you’re plodding along nicely! ☺️ That’s a shame your 16 week appointment was disappointing, I’m expecting the same to be honest. Can you go for a private scan? Mine was private because I’m a scan junkie 🙂 and also I love seeing her grow and change. I’m going to get another one at 17/18 weeks because I have no self restraint.

Hope everyone’s ok! Who’s next with scans? Must be some this next week!

DippyDuck19 · 04/08/2024 17:19

@Fluffyted sorry to hear your 16 week appointment was a bit of a disappointment. Not long till your 20 week scan though?

@HopefulllHolly you do make me giggle with booking scans. I think if book one every week if DP would let me!!!!

I'm currently have the week off and am in Cornwall. My bump has massively popped this week, I look and feel huge!!! Started feeling some little flutters a few days ago which has been nice 🥰 I have my "16 week" (although I'm 18 weeks) appointment next week with the consultant. I wonder if he/she will listen to the heartbeat. Will find out if I definitely need fragmin injections from 28 weeks and whether I need a c-section because of the dermoid cysts I have on my ovaries.

Fluffyted · 04/08/2024 18:21

@HopefulllHolly maybe I was just expecting way too much! 🙈 I am so tempted to book a private scan, I just know I'll get totally hooked and I'll be there every week 🤣 I love how you book & go for lots of scans! It's amazing to see such differences from them all & it will be such a lovely reminder to look back on once your baby girl arrives.

@DippyDuck19 I think I might have just been expecting far too much & maybe it's just normal! 😅 my 20 week scan is at the end of August so not too long to wait.
Aww I get you look beautiful!! So cute your bump has popped!!
That's amazing you've started to feel flutters!!! 🥰😍 that must be the most amazing feeling ever. Hopefully the consultant will listen to the heartbeat in your appointment 🤞🏼 be so lovely if they do! In a way I think a c-section would be much less stressful as you'll know the day / plan of it all and it should go smoothly!
Would you prefer a c-section or vaginal birth?

HopefulllHolly · 04/08/2024 18:33

@DippyDuck19 I know - I’m crazy for a scan! I’m too impatient to meet her I think! 🤣🤣 I’m going to make a photo album and include them all in. Have some from the day of transfer too of my other half in his scrubs looking hilarious and of the embryo growing and there’s a little smiley face in the cells. Always thought it was a good sign!
I forgot you were off away this week! I hope you’re having a great time! I’m away next week - can’t wait for a break! Although a bit anxious as I’m really achy now (all my back and hips kills if I do too much in the days now). Really hope it doesn’t get worse! I’ve booked to start pregnancy Pilates for 6
weeks from the 22nd so that will keep me busy and hopefully loosen me up a bit. 😅 So nice you have a proper bump now and feeling movements - I’m incredibly jealous!! Going to be a long 8 weeks I think till I feel anything! And I still just look fat - there’s definitely a bump but i don’t think it passes as a proper baby bump yet. Hopefully soon!

@Fluffyted Haha I definitely have a problem! They are a nice memento to have and also do give some reassurance. My other half thinks it’s funny that I keep wanting to go 🤣 It’s literally a 10 min walk from my house so it’s just too easy! Go get one to tie you over to the 20 week to make up for the lack of heartbeat and disappointing appointment!

OP posts:
DippyDuck19 · 04/08/2024 18:43

@Fluffyted I like the idea of planning for a c section and I'm not sure what I'd prefer. I'm absolutely terrified of being in pain and tearing! So I'm really undecided.

@HopefulllHolly you have an anterior placenta right? I do too so hopefully won't be that long before you feel anything. The flutters are quite faint but I can't definitely feel something. The first few times they were soo faint I could have been imagining them!
I've got lots of photos from embryo and the scans. I'm going to make a photo book of pregnancy and then one when baby's here (do like a first year photo book).
I'm considering going to hydro bump which is like aqua aerobics! I need to do something I ache soo much and really struggling with walking about.
