Has anyone found second round of IVF to be more successful? And how to cope with the grief of the first round.

Hello all! We have had our first failed round of IVF. Everything was going great, we used IVF as husband is in the military so he’s away a lot of the time, therefore lack of time to conceive.

28 follicals retrieved, 20 fertilised, 15 blastocyst and 9 made it to day 5 FET All grade 5AA to 4BB. Transfer went well, we had all of our hopes up and we are heartbroken. Had our 5AA put on, now having a 4AB put in next time.

Really would love to hear some second round success stories?🫶🏼 we are both finding the grief process really difficult. Any tips would be great.

thank you🫶🏼

2nd round will be frozen which I found much easier on my body. I took high dose vit D and had lubion injections as I didn't absorb progesterone pessaries well. I had a top grade fresh transfer which didn't take, don't know why, then the 1st frozen transfer we had from same round (had 5 frozen) was successful. From transfer on a Thursday I had a faint positive test on the Monday. Its great you have blastocysts frozen, that's a huge positive, and your body won't be so full of hormones on the frozen transfer so that's positive too. Best wishes!

Hi did you have any symptoms before testing? @Imisscoffee2021

@Sophieeejadeee I was really grouchy on the Sunday which was wierd as I'm never thar classic premenstrual grumpy, ever. Couldn't explain it was just in a mood all day at work. I had light spotting, just pink, when I got home and thought I was bleeding early. Popped an extra pessary in and went to bed thinking it wasn't working again. Tested Monday morning and there was a faint line, then a true on Tuesday:) I had a heavy red bleed at about 5 weeks pregnant and again thought oh no, but all was fine my cervix was likely irritates from pessaries. Have a 7 month old boy now, and the grief of that first transfer not working feels all part of the journey to have him now. If that one had worked he'd still be frozen, so time really does heal.

I had a frozen first time :(! Maybe I should try vit D next time! How did you know you wasn’t absorbing the pessaries? TMI but mine was leaking out loads, but I thought that was normal. Did you have the same thing?

Congratulations on your positive, that’s amazing! Did you have any symptoms?

Thank you so much for this. Congratulations on the little boy. It’s a huge, emotional journey. How did you cope with the grief? And how long was it from when you got a pos test after the transfer? (Only if you don’t mind me asking)

The grief has hit us both hard. Trying to stay positive for round 2 in 6 weeks 🫶🏼
