Hello,

I'm very late to the party although did pop up on another thread when wife and I were first organising the treatment (to find out if the atrocious admin was normal..!)

Pleased to say we're now in our 2WW after fresh transfer and although it hasn't been plain sailing as DW has got OHSS and spent a little time in hospital it feels a relief to be in a period where we don't have to DO anything.

Blood test is Saturday and we are trying to stay calm and have been doing some early testing. I'm finding it hard to know how to support DW as she's not much of a sharer beyond me whereas I'd love to talk about it to friends and family. I won't as it's her process and body but I'm not really sure what to do with myself while we wait for definite results!

HopefulElle · 16/05/2024 02:18

@Sunflower360 I only had my HCG measured once which was on test day, result was 404, or 440, something like that. (Wow @muddlingthrou that is high!! Makes sense that sickness would be bad with those levels you poor thing).
I didn’t have any symptoms at all until 6 weeks, except possibly tiredness. Started with sore boobs and nausea. By the time I had my 7 week scan I definitely felt pregnant, so having that feeling and scan in same week was a great reassurance and made it much more real for me. The early weeks are a strange limbo.
I think you’re right to step away from the tests, they’re not designed to track progression and there are too many variables. I know the wait is really really difficult, but I think that’s all there is for it.
Good luck @Shesgettingmarriedinthemornin !

Hi everyone

Just an update from me. I had pink/light red spotting this morning when wiping (happened for a few wipes and then went brown), so am naturally unsure where this is going to go. Rang the emergency Create line and got advised to have 4 pessaries (from 3 pessaries) and if there is full red flow they'll scan me sooner, although I'm only 5+1 so not sure what will be visible.

I did a pregnancy test afterwards with a slightly weaker urine as it was only a 1-2 hour hold and their still showing dark lines, clear blue week indicator says 2-3 weeks so I'm really confused what is going on. Either way I'm very wary now... I'm going to expect the worst just in case. If its going to be that way would rather it happen sooner than later on at something like week 10 or 12

@Sunflower360 sorry that you are kept in worry . Fingers crossed it turns out good in the end.

HopefulElle · 19/05/2024 22:34

Oh@Sunflower360 it’s such a worry to see any sort of blood isn’t it? Will keep my fingers crossed for you that all is OK x

muddlingthrou · 20/05/2024 07:23

Wishing you all the luck @Sunflower360. I've mentioned a couple of times but I had an episode of spotting that turned into gushes of bright red blood with clots at just under 6 weeks. I thought it was all over, but they ended up moving my create scan forward to 6w3d and we got to hear a heartbeat. So bleeding can just be v.scary! Fingers crossed xx

Ks2023 · 20/05/2024 19:11

We went to a scan Saturday was so exited took my husband and baby with me only to be told that baby heart stoped beating at 10 weeks. 💔 went to epu today and been concerned that baby died. Booked my d&c for Friday. Absolutely heartbroken

muddlingthrou · 20/05/2024 20:56

@Ks2023 - I'm so so sorry, that is absolutely devastating. Sending you love and strength and hoping you can be kind to yourself xxx

HopefulElle · 20/05/2024 21:17

@Ks2023 I’m so sorry, that’s absolutely heartbreaking news. Thinking of you and sending lots of love xx

Sunflower360 · 21/05/2024 07:07

@Ks2023 so so sorry to read that, that must have been awful. Hope they can provide some explanation of some sort as to what may have happened through tests perhaps, as I recall you saying the 6 week scan went well.

@HopefulElle @jolly86 @muddlingthrou thank you all, spotting has stopped but still a long road to go and conscious anything could happen. Its very early days so preparing for all eventualities. Hope you're all OK

jolly86 · 21/05/2024 17:11

@Ks2023 that is heartbreaking. Hope you can feel better soon. x

HopefulElle · 25/05/2024 07:49

@Sunflower360 @jolly86 how are you both going? Do you have scans soon? X

Sunflower360 · 25/05/2024 08:27

@HopefulElle scan is later next week. As I mentioned I had light pink/brown spotting with a couple of wipes at 5+1 which cleared but increased Cyclogest to 4 a day anyway. I have since then experienced red bleeding when wiping at 5+5. It lasted for about 4 wipes and then went brown but was red nonetheless with tiny bitty clots. Had no cramps on either times. Spoke to the clinic and I'm now on 1 x lubion as well as 4 Cyclogest. No bleeding since then but nonetheless it doesn't fill me with much hope for the early pregnancy scan later next week. I'm 6 weeks today but can't say I notice any symptoms bar fatigue, so I'm kind of expecting a non viable pregnancy but in any case whatever happens its been progress from the previous FETs, will know soon enough anyway what's happening with this.

I did do a pregnancy test after the most recent red when wiping at 5+5 and it was darker and strong but I understand things can go wrong even with high hcg so I'm not holding onto that. I won't test again now as the clinic advised not to as the scan will be the best indicator of what's happening

HopefulElle · 25/05/2024 08:32

@Sunflower360 sorry to hear you’re having such a worrisome time of it. Really hope that you get good news at your scan x

Sunflower360 · 25/05/2024 08:42

@HopefulElle thank you. It's the not knowing that's the hard part, if I knew then I could just accept it and move on to the next steps. I had a double transfer so the clinic have considered the possibility that one has failed but that is best case scenario, of course both could be non viable. If this hasn't worked then it does make me lean more towards PGTA for future transfers, although the 4 still frozen I may just accept that risk in transferring without testing as thawing to test could damage them. So much to consider! But in any case I'm remaining positive as there is a plan if this scan isn't good news

OP posts:
jolly86 · 25/05/2024 11:46

@Sunflower360 I am sorry you are left in limbo, I agree that that's the hardest part. but i like your positive attitude, as in any case it is a good thing that you got pregnant this time and even in the worst case you got good chances with your frozen ones. If it came to that, I wouldn't worry about testing them either, in any case you would still double transfer, hence there isn't much gain plus a risk during the testing that they get damaged. I hope it turns out good though by end of the week.
In my case, I haven't yet had the time to book the scan, I am not rushing either as I feel the later I have it better. But I will book something for around 8 weeks, I am now 7 weeks 2 days. Otherwise I am very panicky too and keep checking to see the smallest sign of a bleed.

HopefulElle · 25/05/2024 11:51

@Sunflower360 the limbo is really awful, but good that you’re staying positive and have a plan. Not too much longer to wait for some clarity now either.
@jolly86 that makes sense, you’re right but also much more patient than I am! I was desperate for confirmation as early as possible. Had my scan with Create at 7 weeks but ended up paying for another at 8+5 or so, as I’d also read about miscarriage risk reducing after 8 weeks. Though that one didn’t reassure me for long either, I’m terrible! X

jolly86 · 25/05/2024 12:00

@HopefulElle did you book the second one at create too? I just didn't find a very reliable place to book in the midlands area. As I wasn't with create this time (did it abroad) I don't get the scan. That's also why I have waited I think.

HopefulElle · 25/05/2024 12:23

@jolly86 no my second one was with a local place that does early reassurance, gender scans and 4D scans etc. To be honest I didn’t find it a good experience, I felt like they were more geared to selling gender reveal merchandise than anything else. Bad news would be devastating regardless of location of course, but somehow I felt it would have been worse there, hence haven’t been tempted to go back. Certainly wouldn’t recommend that one! (I’m quite far from Birmingham).

Sunflower360 · 30/05/2024 14:18

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to update. Had more red bleeding last night when wiping and on a liner which lasted a few hours but eventually stopped. I was worried about the scan this morning following this but by some miracle all was fine and baby had a good heartbeat and was on track as 6+4. To say I was shocked was an understatement, did not expect that at all after the bleeding!

Turns out there is a blood clot in the uterus that is likely causing the bleeding and it could happen again or it could disappear itself by being absorbed internally. In any case it is still very early days but it is a positive to have got to the clinical pregnancy stage, so will hope for the best now as it is still a way to go.

Hope you're all ok

muddlingthrou · 30/05/2024 14:35

Oh @Sunflower360 I'm absolutely thrilled for you! That is super positive news and so reassuring to have an explanation for the bleeding. Hope things continue to progress and the clot is absorbed so you can have some peace of mind (such as is possible during pregnancy!)

Sunflower360 · 30/05/2024 15:14

@muddlingthrou thank you! I actually started crying during the scan, was convinced it was going to be bad news today so it was a relief to hear otherwise. If I recall, you had bleeding too? Was it the same thing? Admittedly mine has been whilst wiping when its happened with some on a small liner but the Dr did say today don't be too alarmed if I did bleed again with clots but of course to go to EPU if it is concerning with cramps. He did say it is possible it could just get absorbed. I have another reassurance scan with Create next week as I requested one which I'm really happy they agreed it, then if all is well will be discharged formally at that point

OP posts:
muddlingthrou · 30/05/2024 15:25

Yes @Sunflower360, I also had bleeding but it was never explained. The episode I had was spotting at 5+5 which turned into about 5 hours of bright red bleeding with clots. It was so scary. Only thing that slightly reassured me was that I had a similar experience when I was pregnant with my daughter, so I guess that's just the way my body rolls when I'm pregnant. Create said something about it likely being old blood, which didn't really make sense to me considering it was bright red.

Good thing they agreed to another scan. Are they charging you for it? After bringing my scan forward to check on the bleeding they said I could retain my original scan date but I'd have to pay for it. Since it was only about a week's difference I declined, though I ended up booking a private scan eslewhere at 9 weeks for reassurance anyway. The first trimester is such a head f*!
