Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@blahblahetc results will be in this afternoon then can decide next steps. Tbh the Progesterone test was more me asking for it, not sure if there really will be any point as if I would have ovulated I would be producing Progesterone naturally anyway. Think it was more trying to do as many checks as possibly to ensure the uterine environment is what it should be given it is a slightly unsual cycle....but will know this afternoon if I'm proceeding this month or not!

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 12:03

@@blahblahetc also those %'s look good!

@Steph2345 how did your scan go?

Sherr33 · 30/03/2024 13:16

@Lasagne30 hiiii. Ive got my consultation on the 10th of April and will see what they say. Are you doing a medicated cycle? (I speak as though i know enough on it!) Ive had one period since my failed transfer my second should be starting around the 10th. Im wondering would that then mean i start preparations for my FET in May? :-/

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 13:25

@Lasagne30 sorry to hear about your first FET. Good that you have a couple frozen. I'm pending 2nd FET after a failed FET earlier this month. What were your circumstances that led down IVF?

Steph2345 · 30/03/2024 14:24

@blahblahetc thanks for sharing the chart. Does ages come into the %s too or is it all about the embryo quality by the time it comes to transfer?

@Sunflower360 scan was good thanks, triple lining measuring 8mm on Thursday so started progesterone this morning and booked transfer in for next Thursday. Made it very real now

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 14:26

@Steph2345 that's good. Did you not have to wait for a surge? Sorry couldn't recall if you were natural or medicated FET

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 15:01

Update from me...blood levels all align with ovulation, so just appears to have happened early. So taking Ovitrelle now to just make sure it happens anyway, Progesterone test day before transfer (I asked for it as its an unusual cycle just to make sure that's what it should be), then transfer Friday hopefully 😬

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 16:36

@Steph2345 Im assuming it’s based purely on embryos grading. It doesn’t even consider day 5 or 6 so hoping that’s a positive… it was shared by my TCM doctor and he’s got a few IVF patients and is collecting statistics to sense check that chart. It’s good you have a concrete date now, eat all the right things to prepare for arrival 😁🍀

@Sunflower360 Good you have a date too! I’m getting so impatient now and another 3-4 weeks for me at least..

Hello, just wondering - do people have a view on day 6 embryos? I’m considering a double transfer this time (never done it) as I haven’t tested the embryos.. clinic is suggesting transferring my day-5s (4AA and 3AA)… the other 2 are day-6s (5AB and 4BB)… should I be transferring a day5 and day6 in instead?

Shouldnt be using my best ones in one go?

@blahblahetc in my first cycle I got 2 day 6 BCs and I transferred them together. Mainly transferred together because of their grading (which isn't an issue for you), but my consultant did mention because they're day 6 too.

After doing loads of reading about this, apparently day 6s have a similar chance to day 5s if transferred in a later frozen cycle. They just have much lower success if transferred fresh on day 6 as the endometrium is out of sync. My clinic won't transfer anything that isn't a blastocyst on day 5. For some reason in my second cycle my only blastocyst again is a day 6 BC!! That's what I'm prepping for transfer now x

Choose2bgr8ful · 30/03/2024 17:49

@Steph2345 good that you now have a transfer date. How are you feeling? How long did your lining take to get to 8mm?

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 18:14

@Lozzy000 Good to know day 6s are fine for FET. I remember asking my previous embryologist that question and he said no difference if freezing… I have read lots of successful stories on poorer graded day 6 embryos so hoping it is in fact just a beauty contest!

All the very best for your transfer 🍀

@Sunflower360 I’m on medicated so no ovulating for me. Both of my ovaries were fast asleep at my scan which was a relief. Great that you have a transfer day now too! Do you have to take any medication at all?

@Choose2bgr8ful I had been on estradiol for 12 days before my scan. My transfer will be day 19, but I don’t think it makes any difference for me if I’m on a medicated cycle to be honest.

@blahblahetc thanks! I hope the next few weeks go fast for you. Are you over in Prague for the whole time?

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 21:40

@Steph2345 that's good it went well! I took Ovitrelle today just to ensure ovulation, and then on Progesterone from tomorrow. I'm also on aspirin and prednisolone

Steph2345 · 30/03/2024 21:52

@custardcreamcake1 how was your scan? I think it was yesterday maybe

OceanSunday · 30/03/2024 22:44

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining 👋 following my CD10 scan today I just triggered with Ovitrelle this evening and have my transfer booked for next Sat.

This is my 4th FET since Oct trying for baby #2. I’ve had a chemical and two failed implantations, and we’re doing a modified natural cycle this time so really hoping this is the one 🤞

Sunflower360 · 31/03/2024 06:39

@OceanSunday Hi! Sounds like you're transferring same day as me, I triggerd yesterday too-transfer is Friday. So are you transferring CD 16? I was slightly concerned it was a bit early but I appear to have had a surge earlier than normal 😵‍💫

Sunflower360 · 31/03/2024 06:42

@OceanSunday sorry you said your transfer is Saturday. I surged in the morning so may be why my transfer is on the Friday (LH+6 days) or is yours intentionally scheduled for 7 days later?

custardcreamcake1 · 31/03/2024 08:03

@Steph2345 aw thanks, yeah lining all good, so we’re booked in for transfer next Monday. Fingers crossed for everyone else who’s got theirs booked for next week!

blahblahetc · 31/03/2024 08:08

@Steph2345 hello, I did DuoStim so first time was a week and second was just over. I chose to stay for the duration so I can do my scans there (didn’t wanna pay extra at ultrasound direct 😁), and it works out more economic with Airbnb and flights. My work let me work from there. I then went back 2 more times (overnight trips) for the hysteroscopy and ERA as those had to be on specific days of the next cycle.

It will probably be 2-3 days trip for the transfer as I’m thinking of taking a few days off to relax and think happy thoughts! I will be having a scan at ultrasound direct prior to transfer to check thickness and a progesterone blood test to confirm not ovulating on CD12.

kerrym87 · 31/03/2024 11:33

My transfer is now 17th May due to delayed periods starting meds 29th April so I have to take all my meds on holiday to lanzarote just in case so they get a holiday too 😂 good luck to everyone @OceanSunday sorry you're on your 4th fet, did you do pgta on any of them? We've done pgta due to history of egg and embryo quality but only got 6 usable embryos from 4 cycles and 50 odd eggs, so nervous!

Choose2bgr8ful · 31/03/2024 12:50

@Steph2345 I'm on day 5 of oestrogen tablets and patches. Lining scan is next Saturday, feels like the days are dragging.

How is everyone doing today? Anyone else been told by their clinic not to eat chocolate during their IVF/FET cycle? That's been harder than giving up cups of coffee and tea, especially as it's Easter and chocolate season!

blahblahetc · 31/03/2024 13:24

No chocolates?! @Choose2bgr8ful I wasn’t told that… all they told me was the caffeine and alcohol. Although I have read that sugar should be limited so maybe that’s why.

Lasagne30 · 31/03/2024 13:32

@Sherr33 Nah going for a natural one this cycle as it was recommended by the doc. That's frustrating if it is May-thats a long wait.
@Sunflower360 We have been trying for nearly 6 years now. All the tests showed nothing wrong-just unexplained infertility which is super frustrating 😑 You?

Choose2bgr8ful · 31/03/2024 13:41

@blahblahetc I was told no chocolate because it also contains caffeine

OceanSunday · 31/03/2024 13:53

@Sunflower360 I had to trigger at 10pm last night for a transfer Sat morning. Although if I’d ovulated naturally before 10pm then they were going to reschedule me for transfer Friday! My cycles are quite short and I always ovulate on CD11 so my transfers have to be early. I did two naturally modified last year, a medicated in Jan and back to naturally modified again.

@kerrym87 No all these embryos are untested. I did IVF back in 2020 and got 10 frozen. The first embryo they put in gave me my daughter who’s nearly 3 now. In trying to have our 2nd we’ve had 3 failed FETs and lost 2 to the thaw so I have 4 embryos left. They’ve advised against testing these ones as they prefer to test them fresh so the plan is to transfer the remaining ones to see if any stick and if we have to do another IVF round test any that come from that.

We must have been so lucky that the first one they picked was clearly a good one!! Hoping so much that one of the remaining sticks 🤞🤞
