Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@Sunflower360 I’m not sure. I have never had or been offered it I’m afraid so I can’t help with that one

lemons44 · 28/03/2024 17:52

Still no sign of period... soooooo annoying.

blahblahetc · 28/03/2024 18:13

@Sunflower360 Will you be on progesterone at all? The ERA report will determine when to administer progesterone i.e., how many hours prior to transfer (typically it's 120 hours so 5 days, my report tells me I need 132-144 hours before my endometrium is receptive). Is that your question?

blahblahetc · 28/03/2024 18:14

@lemons44 how late are you? Have you taken a test....?

Sunflower360 · 28/03/2024 18:21

@blahblahetc ah that's good to know, yes I'll be on Progesterone. I started that the day after my surge last time so was on it 5 days before the transfer. That's good to know thanks

Sunflower360 · 29/03/2024 09:10

I've already got a flashing smiley on the Clear Blue test and it's only CD 8....my first scan was not until Monday as my follicle/lining was a bit slow on CD 10. I'm trying to bring the scan forward now in case I ovulate over the weekend. Is that normal to have HF that early? I've started Aspirin and ramped up some other vitamins and diet, but I normally don't get the flashing high fertility smiley until around CD 12?

Serendipity24 · 29/03/2024 10:37

@Sunflower360 I would be speaking to the clinic. They should advise whether or not to bring the scan forward. Did they ask you to track ovulation or is it something you are doing on your own? I'm asking because my clinic has not asked me to do anything other than getting a scan on CD 9/10 which I will do tomorrow.

Sunflower360 · 29/03/2024 10:44

@Serendipity24 yep I'm tracking ovulation as I'm natural FET, tbh I wouldn't have normally started testing until CD 9 or 10 it was because I started noticing twinges and watery CM so thought best to test. I'm just waiting on a call from the clinic and hopefully they can get me in for a scan tomorrow

Sunflower360 · 29/03/2024 11:43

Got a scan for tomorrow morning so will see where I'm at lining/follicle wise

Sunflower360 · 29/03/2024 16:32

@Serendipity24 are you doing natural FET? You'll likely get told to test after your scan if so

Serendipity24 · 29/03/2024 16:48

@Sunflower360 yes, natural FET.

Good luck with the scan tomorrow 🍀

Lozzy000 · 29/03/2024 19:10

Hey all. Please can I join?

I'm prepping for my 2nd FET. Had a collection earlier this month and have 1 blast from that. Unfortunately it didn't develop into blast on day 5 so I couldn't do a fresh transfer. After a baseline scan today I've started oestrogen to prep for the FET. I have another scan in a week's time to check my lining. Based on my previous FET I'm thinking this transfer could be around 15th April.

Anyone else transferring around this date? X

Steph2345 · 29/03/2024 23:42

Hi @Lozzy000 Hope the oestrogen takes effect quickly for you and your lining thickens up fast so you can transfer soon. I’m doing a FET. Had my day 12 scan yesterday so I’ll be adding progesterone pessaries in my daily routine from tomorrow and transferring next Thursday. Quite a few of us on this thread doing FET 🙂

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 07:29

So I've done a clear blue test and its peak ovulation today, I'm CD 9. Its normally on CD 13-15. This would mean (if the scan goes ok today) a transfer could be CD 15...is that even ok??? @blahblahetc as you said I keep reading about CD 19-21 being the optimal days but of course this is a natural cycle. I wonder if AF arriving 4 days late due to the Progesterone has something to do with me peaking sooner, maybe the body is running like I wasn't late for my perio? But then I had a normal bleed etc so not sure. I'm usually a 28-29 day cycle

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 07:46

Got a feeling I may end up needing to cancel this cycle. Can't see how my lining would be ready in that time. If so, then so be it, don't want to go into it if its not ready. On the plus side will be a shorter cycle if I'm ovulating early so will get to it sooner anyway!

Lozzy000 · 30/03/2024 08:07

@Steph2345 exciting to have your transfer date! That's great to hear there are lots of others doing FETs. I found my last FET harder on my body than the egg collection, so I'm hoping this one won't be as bad. Think it's all the oestrogen and progesterone plus the anxiety of the embryo thawing (I only have 1!!) and then the TWW.

I'm hoping the oestrogen starts working quickly too - last time my clinic added patches in at my first tracking scan as I was a little behind, but this time they given me them from the start, along with progynova. Hoping that does the trick.

X

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 08:59

@Sunflower360 Have you had your scan? How many days have you been on progesterone if you have started? I agree, don’t rush into it and definitely ask them about implantation window prior to transfer for a natural cycle. Does that also mean your period will come soon?

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 09:04

@Lozzy000 Welcome! I’m waiting for a bleed now, and will start on estrogen CD2; and if all goes to plan I hope to transfer third week of April so a week after you🤞🏼

@Steph2345 Exciting to have a transfer date set!

Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 09:15

@blahblahetc not started Progesterone yet, if I was to proceed that would be from tomorrow. I will see what the scan shows, got it this morning. More curious than anything, as I've not ever surged this early and I do wonder if my body does need that months break to settle hormone wise as I was Progesterone for 2 weeks. If cancelling is the best thing to do then I will. On my tracker it suggests my cycle would be 23 days if I did ovulate so would end up starting in 2 weeks so its not too long a wait. Not ever had a period that short though, shortest has been 27 days

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 09:21

@Sunflower360 My cycles have been all over the place for 6 months; I’m usually 28 days too and it’s now inconsistent. This month started after 21 days! Hence I thought I was going to transfer last week.. The clinic has assured me it’s normal to have a few short cycles during the process (I am 42 later this year and was panicking that I was menopausing 😅)..

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 09:29

@blahblahetc yeah I started googling too and saw perimenopause! I'm 38 so not beyond the realms of possibility but I hope that's not the case of course and am putting it down to the external hormones from the FET. I do believe pumping your body with external hormones is not necessarily going to help things, and 2 weeks on Cyclogest effectively made me 4 days 'late' for my period even though my body was trying to start my period as I started spotting the day before OTD, so this ovulation would have been now had I have not delayed it with the Progesterone, but CD 13 intsead of CD 9...

Lasagne30 · 30/03/2024 11:07

Hey guys,
I followed @Sherr33 over from our last thread haha Looks like we're roughly on same timing.

We've had one fresh transfer which failed remarkably quickly. I've had 2 periods since and am due for my scan on Tuesday. If all is on track I'll be doing a frozen transfer the week after with our little AA fella.
Fingers crossed this one sticks. We've got 2 frozen, an AA and an AB but not sure we will do another egg collection after this.

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 11:25

Hello, just wondering - do people have a view on day 6 embryos? I’m considering a double transfer this time (never done it) as I haven’t tested the embryos.. clinic is suggesting transferring my day-5s (4AA and 3AA)… the other 2 are day-6s (5AB and 4BB)… should I be transferring a day5 and day6 in instead?

Shouldnt be using my best ones in one go?

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 30/03/2024 11:45

@blahblahetc I understand day 6's have a slightly less success rate but not far off as it gets put back in on day 5. If its your first transfer with the clinic I'd be inclined to see it as test run and err on the side of caution, saving the strong embryos for the next cycle (hopefully you'd not need it of course)

I had my scan, lining is triple layer 7.6mm but follicle was hard to see. The ovary which appeared to have the dominant follicle is really hard to get to but was measuring around 14mm so they have taken bloods to check Oestradiol and LH and next steps can be decided from there. The Dr's thoughts were that lining was the most important element for FET as the egg is irrelevant this cycle, but of course need to ensure hormones are in check hence the blood test as I need to ovulate for a natural FET - if they are ok then I can take Ovitrelle to push ovulation as lining is what it should be. They said they could also do a Progesterone test on transfer day, if I was able to proceed. So from what I've taken from it is that the transfer window can vary in natural FET as long as lining and hormone levels are good...not sure if I'm over simplifying it? Minefield of information and Google doesn't help 🤯

blahblahetc · 30/03/2024 11:59

@Sunflower360 Yeh, I think I’m going to request the 4AA and 4BB first.. I think.. also staring at this chart to try and come to a decision!

Will you get the blood results today/tomorrow to determine if you will start progesterone tomorrow? What will progesterone test on transfer day achieve?
