Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@Choose2bgr8ful ooh that does make sense, I had been eating chocolates during stims - lesser than usual but now I'm thinking maybe that didn't help with the number of blasts each time! So I need to cut that too now 😔

@OceanSunday it's so much luck of the draw isn't it? I have poor egg quality, hubby has some sperm issues and if I hadn't hyperstimulated we'd have maybe had only one embryo if we were lucky. It took 25 eggs to get 4 early day6 blasts .....I'm terrified of losing ones to the thaw although we've paid for another cycle as part of package

Sunflower360 · 31/03/2024 21:05

@OceanSunday ah that makes sense, my blood tests for LH and estradiol were in the morning following the home tests showing a surge, hence the Friday afternoon transfer. Have you started Progesterone? Is there a reason why you're trying natural FET this time? I've only done natural so far, mainly because I want to avoid polyps, got one during my EC stims which I had removed with a Hysteroscopy.

@Choose2bgr8ful @blahblahetc
this Tommys calculator I have found useful, I try and keep caffeine in take to an absolute minimum (decaffeinated tea/coffee), but I have been having cacao as that's meant to be good, its hard to know what to do but in very small quantities should be ok perhaps? Its hard to completely avoid everything but I think 3 squares of Lindt dark chocolate is only a quarter of the allowance per day (25mg, allowed up to 200mg), and dark chocolate contains amino acids and l'arginine that is meant to help with female fertility...hard to know what to do but I think moderation is key and avoiding high caffeinated items like proper tea/coffee/cola/energy drinks

@Lasagne30 I've got low AMH and during IVF discovered I have thryoid antibodies so I'm on steroids for that, plus I'm 38 so age is not really on my side where this matter is concerned. Had a natural pregnancy last year but it led to a chemical and then went straight into ECs for embryo banking and now onto FETs. Got a number of embryos in the freezer and this is our 2nd FET, none our PGTA tested so its trial and error in all honesty!

blahblahetc · 31/03/2024 21:18

@Sunflower360 Thanks for the calculator that’s very useful! I should be ok I think, 1 cup decaf only in the morning, and I try to stick to dark chocolate but do have the occasional bit of milk but well under the daily limit per day!

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 31/03/2024 21:26

@blahblahetc is milk not allowed?

blahblahetc · 31/03/2024 21:30

@Sunflower360 It’s fine. I popped in 50g each (dark and milk) and I can eat double that if I want to! Milk chocolate is generally discouraged because of the sugar content I think.

Sunflower360 · 31/03/2024 21:32

@blahblahetc I thought you meant milk drink 😂 Misread it thankfully!

Choose2bgr8ful · 31/03/2024 22:07

Thanks @Sunflower360 that calculator is very helpful. I've also been sticking to decaff tea. Good to know a little bit chocolate is okay 😅

Hey all, hope you don’t mind me joining the thread. I have just done my first ICSI treatment and unfortunately failed. I have an AMH of 2. We only had 3 follicles after stims, and somehow those 3 had 3 eggs, which fertilised and made it to day 5 blastocyst.

We had 1 hatching day 5 blastocyst transferred (was told it was amazing quality so had high hopes) and have 2 day 5 blastocysts frozen. Unfortunately had a BFN OTD, I had a bleed soon after and have now ovulated normally.

I have begun the FET and I started taking x3 a day 2mg Progynova estradiol, then a scan on 8th April, then I think I’ll be on the cyclogest pessaries and lubion progesterone injections. I’ve aslo been taking 1 asprin a day and I’m on 25g levothyroxine. Transfer date might be the 15th.

Has anyone else been taking Progynova? I’m having horrible side affects - dizziness, mood swings, head aches, I also haven’t been very well with a cold so that hasn’t helped. I had a fever yesterday and a temp of 38.4!

Serendipity24 · 01/04/2024 08:42

Hi @Eljane34 sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I had Progynova last time and experienced some mood swings and headaches but overall it was okay. This time I am doing a natural cycle so not taking anything yet. Hope you feel better soon, and 3 blastocysts from 3 eggs is amazing! Wishing you all the best!

DippyDuck19 · 01/04/2024 09:05

Hi. Hope you don't mind me joining.

I started IVF in February and had to do a freeze all due to high AMH / AFC and was a risk of OHSS.

Am now preparing for FET in April and will be doing a medicated cycle. AF due around the 11th and will start progynova. I have 2x day 5 frosties!

custardcreamcake1 · 01/04/2024 10:39

@Eljane34 welcome! I’m on progynova, I’ve had 2 failed FETs before when I was on zumenon instead (a different type of estrogen), but used a different pharmacy, so they changed it to progynova. I feel totally awful on it, headaches, anxiety, teary, sore boobs, the works! Will definitely be going back to zumenon if this FET fails!

lemons44 · 01/04/2024 11:37

@Eljane34 I'm going to be on progynova both vaginaly and orally - are you taking it this way too? I've never had it before so not sure what to expect. Sorry you've not been well on it.

@blahblahetc period will be 2 weeks late on Thursday. Sadly no need to take a test as husband doesn't have sperm in his ejaculate so know it isn't that. The clinic have said it can take 2 weeks after stopping provera for a period to arrive so I have to wait until Thursday and if it's not here by then I have to have a scan. I'm convinced that it is the prostap injection that's caused this. Really worried my whole frozen cycle will be cancelled if it doesn't come by Thursday xx

Eljane34 · 01/04/2024 11:49

@Serendipity24 thank you!
@custardcreamcake1 thats interesting, I’m going to give my clinic a call tomorrow just to tell them about my symptoms but hopefully it’s just my body getting used to it.
@lemons44 im taking orally, 3 times a day dissolved under the tongue.

lemons44 · 01/04/2024 12:08

Thanks @Eljane34 I was told I have to take it orally 3 times a day and vaginally twice a day. It's literally the same tablet for both purposes! x

blahblahetc · 01/04/2024 12:55

@lemons44 Did you ask if they can give you anything to induce? I remember mine was late by almost 2 weeks 2 years ago and they said if it doesn’t come in 2 weeks they will give me something for a bleed- this was my NHS cycle

OP posts:
blahblahetc · 01/04/2024 13:05

@Sunflower360😂I'm sure milk and anything dairy is fine and encouraged!

OP posts:
Lozzy000 · 01/04/2024 16:37

@Eljane34 looks like we'll be having our transfers around the same time! I'm on x4 progynova a day, plus an oestrogen patch which I change every other day. This is my second FET - I was on the same last time (although I changed the patch every 3 days). I'll also be taking x3 cyclogest and 1 lubion a day and I'm taking 1 75mg aspirin per day. So very similar to you! I find the oestrogen does make me a little hormonal - I can get upset easily on it haha! But other than that, I don't notice any symptoms.

I too have low AMH and I only got 1 blast on this cycle (cycle 2) out of 2 eggs collected.

Are you transferring 2 during this FET or just the 1? x

blahblahetc · 02/04/2024 11:32

Sooo AF has arrived! My cycles are all over the place these days; have your cycles been affected since you started IVF? I also only bleed for max 2 days with some spotting afterwards, I honestly feel that I'm perimenopausal after 6 collections!

I'm just waiting for an updated plan, and did some calculations myself and if they are accurate, and day 11/12 scan satisfactory, my FET will be on 21st April.

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 02/04/2024 11:38

@blahblahetc that's good that your AF has arrived. Yes, my cycles have been different each cycle after each round, but then the following cycle returns to normal. That's why I'm thinking of having a 1 month break rather than go back to back if this next FET does not work

blahblahetc · 02/04/2024 12:01

@Sunflower360 I have planned [which ones to use] for May and June (and Oct as July-Sep will be busy) now if this one fails... may need to rethink that.

I was told the ERA result is good for 6 months too, but now worried it will be inaccurate due to the inconsistenties..

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 02/04/2024 12:05

@blahblahetc what are the inconsistencies?

blahblahetc · 02/04/2024 12:22

@Sunflower360 my cycles, it ranges 19-24 days since Oct 2023

OP posts:
lemons44 · 02/04/2024 12:23

Glad your AF arrived @blahblahetc

Is anybody on treatment for NK cells?

I've just been told mine are elevated and suggested treatment of prednisolone and intralipid infusions. I feel so confused though because the HFEA does not rate this treatment at all. I don't know what to do.

For background, I have never had a BFP before so have never had a loss. I have an autoimmune condition and I also have lots of autoimmune in my family.

blahblahetc · 02/04/2024 12:28

@lemons44 I think a few of us are so it must be quite common. I’ll be on prednisolone 5mg daily from tomorrow. I have not heard of intralipid infusions though.. googling it.
