Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

Welcome @Southlondoner88 You are 3 days ahead of me.. I’m 4dp5dt and don’t think I can wait to test any longer! I have no symptoms so far.. is this your first? If you have an FRER, I think it’s safe to test.. if you want to, I’m impatient 😁

I had been pregnant before (missed miscarriage) so I’m looking out for those symptoms i.e., very sore boobs, slight rash down there..but nada… I m hoping it’s still too early for me but very worried of the disappointment.

@blahblahetc sorry to hear about you previous miscarriage and congrats on your transfer. I don’t want to test any sooner as I want to hold onto any optimism for as long as I can. I am actually going to test on day 12 as my husbands away until Saturday night but in a way that will be good as results will probably be more accurate.

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 07:56

@blahblahetc thanks, were your clinic suggesting taking it for an extended period of time?

blahblahetc · 23/04/2024 08:03

@Sunflower360 Yes, they said to continue taking it alongside all the meds taken till week 12 (if positive result).. I started taking it on CD 2. They can only do good anyway and I've not aware of any side effects, so perhaps start taking them?

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 08:57

@blahblahetc I'll start them today. Is it possible to take too much?! 12 weeks seems a long time for probiotics when the course is 6 days, but I don't know enough about them tbh!

blahblahetc · 23/04/2024 09:33

@Sunflower360 That's what I thought! The clinic said its main purpose is to prevent infections and provide a healthy environment. I've read that it is generally safe during pregnancy but to check with healthcare provider... and of course it's then going to be subjective. My NHS doctor told me to be on it but stop after transfer, Create didnt even mention it.

So for this FET, I started taking it everyday from CD2, then alternate days a week later, then everyday since FET. Now I'm thinking maybe doing it on alternate days again... they also put me on oral probiotics, so I feel like I'm overdoing it.

AnxiousAndHopeful · 23/04/2024 09:44

@Sunflower360 @blahblahetc I've been on probiotics for about 5 years! I take them for general improved energy and better gut flora. I didn't even think about stopping them for the FET! I have coeliac so anything from improved gut health gets a thumbs up from me. You probably can take too much, it will cause you quite bad wind haha.

@charliegirl77 Thank you, and Im really sorry this cycle didn't work for you - thanks for your gracious kindness 💟

@Southlondoner88 you are a stronger woman than me, waiting until 11dp5dt! Fingers crossed for you

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 09:57

@blahblahetc Create have said its good to take the probiotics, they did not specify duration though.

@AnxiousAndHopeful what brand did you use? Struggling to locate canseflor...

AnxiousAndHopeful · 23/04/2024 09:59

@Sunflower360 oh maybe I should have specified.. I take oral probiotics 😂🤪biokult has been my go-to for many years

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 10:02

@AnxiousAndHopeful getting confused...so theres oral and non oral ones?

AnxiousAndHopeful · 23/04/2024 10:05

Apparently so! I didn't know that. @Sunflower360 it seems as though Canesflor is for vaginal use, and Biokult is oral use. The more you know! Maybe Canesflor is more industrial grade?

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 10:06

@AnxiousAndHopeful thanks, so would you start on a course of vaginal then use oral? What bio kult one is for microbiome to improve lactobacillus etc for FET?

blahblahetc · 23/04/2024 10:12

@Sunflower360 Looks like there may be a shortage in supply on Amazon -https://www.mypharmacy.co.uk/product/canesflor-probiotics-capsules-for-vaginal-use-10/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVFLNK7xnqKXCiMIMP0ZCxWNEKoePHyZk2CemOfvHptDoce71KiP23xoCn5QQAvD_BwE -
This is the vaginal pessary, I think it's the only brand available in the UK.

https://herfreesoul.com/products/intimate-flora-for-women - this is the one I take orally.

I'm not concerned with the oral one i.e., I'm happy to take it everyday. I find the vaginal one, if taken daily, may be an overkill.. but again, that was the advice from the Prague clinic so maybe just different ways of doing things.

@Southlondoner88 I had slight cramping every single day for about 12 days.
Same thing-it's not painful but almost more like a tummy grumbling for food, a stab here and there lol And it was all over the place, nothing consistent, no pattern to it. One day it would be in my left side, the next the right.
And I just got my blood test results back today with a positive.
Could be a good sign 👍

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 10:15

@blahblahetc thanks, so you do the vaginal course and then take the oral ones continuously with other supplements as standard?

Southlondoner88 · 23/04/2024 10:18

@Lasagne30 ah good to hear, congratulations! Now I’m feeling hopeful. I feel nothing today though but I’d imagine implantation only takes a few days so maybe it’s done. I am really hungry even though I’ve had lots to eat already..

beachbum85 · 23/04/2024 10:19

@Southlondoner88 congrats on your transfer and good luck holding out to 12dpt. I did that last week and it was HARD but I have to say it was a lot better for my headspace than early testing, although everyone is different obviously. Good that your husband's away so you have more of an incentive to resist 💪🏼
I had some stabbing pains including strong ones around 10dp5dt with this BFP and my previous successful round so, for me, that's a good sign, whereas I've had general cramping on both successful and unsuccessful attempts 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was really hungry this round too... sounds promising!

How are you feeling @Lozzy000? I hope you've had a happy surprise if you've tested again!
And you @blahblahetc and anyone else in the tww I might have forgotten? Hang in there...

Thank you so much @Sunflower360 !
I had read this study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10363539/ where the vaginal probiotics were taken from the start of progesterone supplementaton to the transfer (6 days). The product they use (Gynoflor pessaries) is not available in the UK but I'm sure it would be similar with other probiotics. I had gotten my hands on the Gynoflor for my Feb transfer, that failed, and not this one, so I personally didn't see the benefit, but I don't think it can hurt at all 🤷🏻‍♀️
(Like @AnxiousAndHopeful I always take gut probiotics regardless of FET, but I think that's something different?)

Thank you so much @charliegirl77 ! I appreciate your kind words especially after the difficult journey you had this month xxx

@Lasagne30 amazing that the bloods confirmed! 🤩

Great news @AnxiousAndHopeful ! I've just got my viability scan booked for 2 weeks Thursday, so soon after yours 🤞🏼🤞🏼
I did a digital today and it came back with 2-3w so I'm feeling a bit reassured whilst waiting for that...

blahblahetc · 23/04/2024 10:20

@Sunflower360 The clinic is telling me to take the vaginal pessaries everyday..I did triple check this with them too! I think definitely do the course and then decide if you want to carry on after the course (vaginally).

Oral pills - yes, everyday alongside other supplements.

Thanks all, well would appear Caneslor is sold out everywhere...any other recommendations for vaginal ones?

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 11:01

@blahblahetc @AnxiousAndHopeful @beachbum85 any suggestions for suppositories other thsn caneston?

Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 11:01

*canesflor

blahblahetc · 23/04/2024 11:09

@Sunflower360 I havent been able to find anything else (besides canesflor) in the UK unfortunately... did you try that link I shared just now?

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 11:11

@blahblahetc it says its out of stock unfortunately. I may just try the tablets then in that case, not sure how much it will add but I should be able to get Optibac from a Boots hopefully

blahblahetc · 23/04/2024 11:12

@Sunflower360 Sorry just realised it's out of stock on there too. I'll try and find somewhere else who might stock them. Looks like Amazon has them now but charging ridiculous £25 for delivery!

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 23/04/2024 11:13

@blahblahetc yeah saw that, ridiculous! Not paying that out of principal!!!!
