Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

Thanks @Sunflower360 , I also think I should get it tested

@blahblahetc In my last medicated cycle they tested the level two days before transfer and I was told that if it was low then I would be given Lubion in addition to the two pessaries I was on. The level was good, so I didn't have to add Lubion. They said they would not test it this time as I am doing a natural cycle.

Sunflower360 · 06/04/2024 16:55

@blahblahetc that's interesting, I asked about a beta test but it has been kind of shrugged off and I didn't really push for it any further. In all honesty I probably wouldn't bother going for it if it was negative on a urine test the 2 days prior - they are pretty sensitive the FRERs! I kind of knew I was out of the running by 7dp5dt last time. The main thing for me is ensuring a Dr's follow up appt straight after the OTD (day of or day after), mainly as I'll likely to do another FET straight away if this hasn't worked and then have a 1 month break...so need to have the follow up to ensure all is in place for that. Worked ok this time round as its natural FET so meds are minimimal so hopefully can get it all in place if that needs to happen again.

I'm ok though, thanks, only 1dp5dt, I do wonder if anything is actually in there, feel no different 😂 Oddly I felt pulling and stuff in the last FET on 1dp and 2dp, but appreciate that was really early for anything. But perhaps I was looking into things too much, must have been as it was a BFN!

blahblahetc · 06/04/2024 16:55

Thanks @Serendipity24 that makes sense. I might order a test myself before going to Prague; then check if I need lubion when im there.. thinking out loud here 🙃

@Sunflower360 Really keeping my fingers crossed for you that this is your time 🍀Are you planning to test 7dp or earlier? I agree with you that if it’s mostly not great if still a negative on day 7..

Sunflower360 · 06/04/2024 17:02

@blahblahetc I'll likely test 7dp5dt, just so I have some indication, before that I would only test if I had symptoms....which so far are non existent!

Sunflower360 · 07/04/2024 15:54

@Lozzy000 think most surivive thaw, what grade is the embryo?

Sunflower360 · 07/04/2024 15:55

@charliegirl77 how are you getting on?

charliegirl77 · 07/04/2024 16:55

@Choose2bgr8ful I had polyps, thickened lining and fluid filled cavity on my scan before starting last June. Have you ever had polyps, fibroids or cycts? I’m not sure of a fluid filled cavity alone. I had to have the polyps removed before starting. Hope that’s not the case for you. This time (I test tomorrow so end of tww) they thought they spotted a polyp on the scan the week before transfer. They had a meeting and were happy to go ahead as it was tiny and wasnt in the way of where the embryo would go.

@Sunflower360 I have the test now but trying to ignore it until tomorrow. Not very well though haha. How are you feeling?

Sunflower360 · 07/04/2024 17:02

@charliegirl77 I'm ok, not entirely hopeful this time round, its 2pd5dt, I knows its early but can't say I've noticed much symptom wise. Hope your test day goes well tomorrow!

charliegirl77 · 07/04/2024 19:08

@Sunflower360 its so hard. I’ve had no symptoms apart from a bit of cramping transfer day and about 7dp5dt but that’s literally it. I don’t remember 3 years ago if I did or not. You’re very early into your tww so you’re def not out yet.

Lozzy000 · 07/04/2024 19:29

Sunflower360 · 07/04/2024 15:54

@Lozzy000 think most surivive thaw, what grade is the embryo?

@Sunflower360 yeah survival rate I think is like 80/90% but I still worry as it's my only embryo 😔 so I have nothing to fall back on. I always think the worst! It's a 4BC so not great quality. For some reason I only seem to create BCs no matter the protocol. Had a 4BC and 2BC in my last round, which ended in an early chemical. Hope you're feeling okay and taking it easy? X

Sunflower360 · 07/04/2024 19:46

@charliegirl77 hopefully the cramping was a good sign, fingers crossed

@Lozzy000 BC's still have a good enough chance, I've got a couple of those frozen too. Used the 2 good, ones first, then will work through them that way, but Ive heard from so many people saying grading really is such a small component. I'm ok, felt a bit deflated today as I'm trying to map out what the best plan is if this FET doesn't work. I will definitely do another FET if this don't work but trying to work when/if another EC may be a good idea bearing in mind I turn 39 this year. In any case I'd want to do it whilst still 38 if needed, but with my low AMH would likely need another 2 ECs, so a fair bit to think about. Probably shouldn't think about it now but its just in my very nature as a planner and I'm conscious time is not really on my side if we did want to do another ECs. Made a conscious decision not to test the embryos whilst frozen so will work through the transfers and take it from there...the decison making is sometimes the hardest part as you want to do the right thing!

I've had fibroids in the past, I had an operation last year to have them removed. No cysts or polyps. I'm having another scan tomorrow, I'm hoping they'll say the ET can still go ahead.

@charliegirl77 good luck!

Bruceytwo · 08/04/2024 10:40

Hi all, can I join? I had a failed fresh transfer in Jan and a failed FET in March. We have two frosties left so going again this month, natural cycle so not sure when, but probably around the 22nd.

The clinic have basically said they think it's a numbers thing so we've made no changes. Getting quite nervous that there is an underlying issue but trying to be positive.

Trying to look into ways to support implantation but there's so much information! Using a few supplements and just hoping!

Good luck to everybody else going through this!

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 10:53

@Bruceytwo Hi! Sorry to hear about your previous failed FETs. I'm on my 2nd FET 3dp5dt have zero symptoms so am convinced it's a BFN... starting to think about next steps now, I'd like to go straight into another natural FET if I get the green light to do so.

What are you changing this time round?

lemons44 · 08/04/2024 11:02

Hope today goes well @charliegirl77

@Choose2bgr8ful good luck for your scan I know how nerve wracking it is when you have something that may impact the cycle going ahead. Really hoping they can give you the go ahead today!

My period has finished now so I am trying to give my lining a helping hand from today. Going to start 1 hour brisk walks every day to get some circulation going and eat lots of oily fish, nuts and fruit and veg. Does anybody else have any tips for getting the lining good? I am also on progynova but want to do everything I can.

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 11:05

@Bruceytwo as for influencing implantation I'm beginning to think this is not in our control...I had a natural chemical last year before starting my 2nd lot of egg collections and I clearly implanted as I had hcg and all the accompanying symptoms you would expect when implanting (lower back pain, abdominal cramps and pink spotting 8-10dpo), and I had no meds - so likely an embryo issue as implantation occured. But in the FETs, this and the last one, I've had nothing but I've been on Prednisolone/Aspirin/supplements/drinking all juices recommended and nothing not one flipping symptom of implantation! I'm 38 so likelihood is that the embryos may not be genetically normal (including the chemical pregnancy one) but can't help but feel it is just pot luck now....time will tell!

lemons44 · 08/04/2024 11:05

@Sunflower360 I found this which I find useful. I think 3dp5dt would be very early to feel anything. Keeping everything crossed for you x

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 11:09

@lemons44 pomegranate juice, l'arginine I think I've read is good. But again how much it actually influences it I'm not sure-I did notice my lining was slightly better this time round and I did both of above but could have just been the cycle and the fact I had a scan right up to transfer so it was an accurate figure. But I think you're right with the exercising route too

blahblahetc · 08/04/2024 11:12

Welcome @Bruceytwo Have you had any tests done? NK cells, clotty blood etc.

@Sunflower360 It is still very early, so keep positive! Beetroot juice and brazil nuts🙂

I keep thinking about my very first ET (sept 2022); it implanted but can only assume it was an aneuploid as it was lost very early. I was not on prednisolone nor aspirin.. the next 2 transfers, one an euploid didn't work whilst on prednisolone and aspirin.. so I'm now skeptical if there is any benefits to taking them..

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 11:13

Thanks @lemons44 appreciate that. Think I'm just a bit confused because surely if their abnormal embryos they would still implant then reject into a chemical like my natural pregnancy last year... but perhaps last years was a mosaic or something and the last FET was fully abnormal hence no implantation at all? Just doesn't make sense, but perhaps I'm looking into it too much! Who knows. Will see what happens with this embryo at the moment

Eljane34 · 08/04/2024 11:27

Hey all, I just had my scan to check my lining, and its not as thick as they want, 6mm at the moment. I generally have quite light periods so I wasn't sure if this may be why?! I have been put on patches and continuing with the x3 progynova a day. Another scan on Friday, with a potential transfer day next Friday (19th). The doctor said they do transfers when the lining is 6, but she said we might aswell try and get it a bit thicker.

More waiting!!!! I hate the waiting, I had prepared myself for Transfer on Monday :(

beachbum85 · 08/04/2024 11:44

@charliegirl77 thinking of you today xxx
Thanks for sharing your positive story after pre-eclampia. I also wasn't medicated last time, but was only fully diagnosed after I gave birth, and I've been given aspirin to take from any positive pregnancy test from now on.

@Sunflower360 glad to hear you have quite a few embryos in the freezer, that must be a relief, although obviously you always hope you won't need them for now! Yeah, mine were collected when I was 35, but we only had 3 over 2 rounds and this is the last one, so I'm quite worried about a fresh round is this FET doesn't work.
Sorry to hear you're thinking it's a BFN but 3dp5dt is so, so early. 2 IVF friends who had zero symptoms and positives say no symptoms bring girl vibes 🤷🏻‍♀️Of course you know your body best and false hope is terrible, but it's definitely too earlytoknow for sure.

@Choose2bgr8ful I hope you get good news at your scan today xxx

@Serendipity24 hello transfer buddy! Yes, I'm doing a natural cycle and have doing thinking about testing progesterone but decided against it since previous tests were fine and I was on the same dose of Cyclogest with my successful fresh transfer (and this time my body should also be producing its own)... but now thinking it would have given me something less to worry about. Did you end up testing yours? How are you feeling about tomorrow? Safe travels to Spain!

@Lozzy000 I totally understand and feel the same way about the thawing survival rate with my last embryo. It's hard... I'm trying not to think about it as much as possible, as there's nothing I can do, but I can't even imagine how I'd feel to get that call tomorrow morning. Keeping fingers crossed for all of ours to thaw safely!

@Bruceytwo hi and sorry to hear about your previous attempts. Best of luck!

@lemons44 I don't know how much of this actually changes anything but apart from L-arginine and pomegranate juice, they say Vit E help the lining.

@Eljane34 sorry to hear you have to wait longer... so frustrating! best of luck for Friday's scan!
