Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@charliegirl77 thank you, transfer done so tww now 😬

Hi @beachbum85 are you doing anything different this time round for the FET?

beachbum85 · 05/04/2024 16:03

Hi @Sunflower360 congrats on your transfer and good luck for the tww... By far the hardest part, I find. Sorry for not reaching previous posts, but was this your first transfer? Sending lots of positive thoughts your way!

No, it's exactly the same natural cycle as last time. I had preeclampsia previously and the presence of a corpus luteum reduces the risk of developing that again, so since there was no identified reason for the last failure (lining developed fine, I ovulated as predicted), we're trying the same once more and hoping for better luck 🤞🏼

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 16:19

@beachbum85 hope the next one works out ok. This is my 2nd FET, the last one last month (I've done back to back) was a BFN. I'm 38 though and have not PGTA'd our embryos so not sure which, if any, are genetically normal. Will find in due course I suppose!

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 16:21

Thank you @beachbum85 ! I also have Thyroid Antibodies so am on Prednisolone and Aspirin, so not sure how much of a challenge that poses, albeit TSH was beloe 2.5 when it was checked 2 weeks ago. Its hard to know what factors influence things in all honesty

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 16:22

My Progesterone was 69pmol when tested yesterday so that looked ok and lining was 7.8 at transfer so rest is up to the embryo and hopefully my immunity plays ball if that is an issue

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 16:30

69 nmol...not pmol

beachbum85 · 05/04/2024 16:51

Thank you @Sunflower360 ! Also 38 and untested embryos here, from a few years ago.

I'm very sorry about your previous BFN 😥Do you have any indication or suspicion of why that didn't take? Are you repeating the same protocol and was yours also a natural transfer apart from the thyroid antibodies meds? That's good that they tested your progesterone and it was at a good level! They said they don't need to test mine but you'd think a quick blood test would be worth the extra reassurance... Sorry for the many questions! I really hope this is your transfer xxx

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 17:06

@beachbum85 I had exactly the same protocol except Aspirin has been added this time. In all honesty the Dr has put it down to an abnormal embryo last time (it was a 5AB but I appreciate grades are irrelevant really), this one is a 5BA. Will just see, I have another 6 embryos frozen left (5 blastocysts and 1 day 3) of varying grades BB and below, but we shall see what happens. I'll likely do a double transfer next time if this FET does not work.

Steroids tend to get prescribed for immunity issues, whether they work or not, research is mixed but may as well try. They appear to be doing something as my sinuses are absolutely clear, and by now hayfever is the bain of my life; steroids tend to help with inflammation...nice to have some respite from that if anything!

The Progesterone testing I insisted on, moreso just as another sense check/learning for any future FETs. Thankfully that appeared ok.

Hopefully you'll be ok embryo quality wise if you had EC a couple of years ago, I think it does start dropping from 35 so having them collected earlier will be in your favour

charliegirl77 · 05/04/2024 17:22

@Sunflower360 Glad your transfer went well. Planning on relaxing or keeping busy or a bit of both. Hope it passes quickly and you get your positive result.

Welcome @beachbum85 my first pregnancy I had pre eclampsia and my son’s was born at 32 weeks. I was never medicated in that pregnancy. Second pregnancy, I was given aspirin from the get go and didn’t have one high reading, my daughter arrived spontaneously at 38 weeks and we were both absolutely fine.

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 17:25

@charliegirl77 thanks. I'll generally take it easy over the next couple of days, got a bit of social stuff Sunday lunchtime but other than that will be easy

charliegirl77 · 05/04/2024 19:43

@beachbum85 and @Sunflower360 I’m 38 too, 39 this year. Mine are untested too.

@Sunflower360 Sounds like a good weekend. I will be desperately avoiding the shops so I don’t get the test til Sunday to do Monday morning (probably about 4am 😂)

welcome @Lozzy000 great you have a transfer date.

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 19:52

@charliegirl77 ah ok, what age were your embryos made? You've done really well waiting to test!

charliegirl77 · 05/04/2024 20:27

@Sunflower360 34. you? Thanks I’ve never tested early so staying strong..well trying.

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 20:31

@charliegirl77 that's good so you collected whilst still on the right of your 30's! I collected at 37/38 so I'm conscious inevitably the euploid rate will be lower. I think under 35 its usually a good chance of 1 in 2 being good. Think 35+ as you get older tends to be 1 in 3 or 4 but of course can vary person to person

lemons44 · 06/04/2024 10:26

Hi all. Did anybody on progynova get joint pain? I honestly feel like I suddenly have old lady hips 😩

charliegirl77 · 06/04/2024 11:18

@Sunflower360 i wasn’t sure on stats but knew it’s best to collect eggs at the youngest possible. Hopefully we all get our positives, fingers crossed.

@lemons44 I have really achey groin/hips last few days but I’m on both progynova and progesterone. Pretty sure both make you feel achey. I felt really sick for the first 5/6 days of taking both then it settled down. How long have you been on progynova?

Choose2bgr8ful · 06/04/2024 14:58

Hi all, good luck to those in their tww or having transfers this coming week.

An update from me, I had my day 11 tracking scan earlier. The lining thickness looked good 10mm however there is some fluid in the cavity so I have to go back on Monday for another scan and then they'll decide whether I can go ahead with the transfer or not 😔. Has anyone had fluid in their cavity before and if so what was the outcome?

Serendipity24 · 06/04/2024 15:00

@beachbum85 yes, we are transfer buddies! Are you doing a natural cycle? My clinic is also not testing progesterone level this time. I am thinking whether to get it done here before I fly to Spain for the transfer for peace of my mind, and also for just gathering data in case this FET fails.

Sunflower360 · 06/04/2024 15:04

@Serendipity24 definitely worth getting Progesterone tested even just as a tool to rule out possible issues.

blahblahetc · 06/04/2024 15:40

@Sunflower360 @Serendipity24 Do you mean progesterone test on transfer day? Is that to check that it’s at an optimum level and what happens if it’s not?

I was told to take a progesterone blood test last time on day 12 to ensure I’m not ovulating but they didn’t tell me to do it this time. Wondering if peeing on an ovulation stick will allow me to check the same thing?

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 06/04/2024 16:23

@blahblahetc Yes, it's to check Progesterone levels are optimum to support pregnancy - think 30nmol is minimum. I had mine done day before transfer mainly because it took overnight for the results to get in and I wanted to know the result at transfer. I'm not sure if Progesterone can be tested at home, even through the other strips, pretty sure it is through blood test

Sunflower360 · 06/04/2024 16:24

If its not optimimum levels then Progesterone would be upped on day of transfer

blahblahetc · 06/04/2024 16:34

Thanks @Sunflower360 My clinic has said they will be doing that on transfer day. Do they prescribe lubion if levels are not great? Or just up the cyclogest? I’m now wondering if I should get some lubion when I’m in Prague for the transfer, although I have never used it and am not sure if I need it..

OP posts:
Sunflower360 · 06/04/2024 16:36

@blahblahetc I've never used lubion in all honesty as Cyclogest seems to do the trick, but if you're on 3 x Cyclogest that is quite a decent dose so hopefully it would be ok. Did you have it tested while at Create during the medicated cycles? That may give you an indication of if you absorb Cyclogest well

blahblahetc · 06/04/2024 16:42

@Sunflower360 No. They didn’t do that, good you insisted on it. I insisted on a beta HCG so do that too! Saves you 2 days of waiting to pee on stick😁how are you feeling by the way?

I only just remembered NHS offered to give me a prescription for lubion (my first ET), but it was too late by then.
