Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@beachbum85 Thanks, I've already got my follow up diarised with the Dr for next week just in case. But will see how the next week goes, I'm kind of just preparing myself for it to have not worked. If I had symptoms I may have thought otherwise but will see what happens!

beachbum85 · 08/04/2024 11:52

@Sunflower360 Always good to have the follow-up planned, I think... it's what has always caused us unnecessary delays! Hopefully you won't need it at all.
Keeping everything crossed for you this week. When are you planning to test?

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 11:56

@beachbum85 I'll likely test 7dp5dt, then I'll know as something should show on a frer that is 7iu by then if it would have worked. My period is actually due on Sunday if ovulation is anything to go by and last month I was spotting the day before but it was the Progesterone holding it off, so in any case will know one way or another this week I think

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 11:58

I don't mind delays if its more testing or a physical reason for needing to do so but I won't delay for admin reasons, they'll have to get the admin through 😇 If its the same natural protocol (Id prefer that) then it's straight forward, already ordering some more Prednisolone so that'll be in place too

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 12:02

@beachbum85 it was a relief having a good number of embryos but this and the last one were the best grades (although i understand that's kind of a null point). The others are BB/BC/CC. And if this doesn't work then its 3 embryos in the space of 6 months that didn't work (natural chemical pregnancy was in Aug, FET1 was Dec EC and this FET2 was Sept EC)... so I'm a bit concerned by my euploid rate hence considering more ECs

Serendipity24 · 08/04/2024 12:32

@beachbum85 I went for progesterone test in the morning. The result may not be available before the transfer tomorrow but I feel much better that I will have the information for future reference at least. I never had a natural cycle and I switched from two Cyclogest pessaries to one Lubion injection this cycle, that's why worried about the level. Hope our embryos cooperate tomorrow, good luck!

Choose2bgr8ful · 08/04/2024 15:05

Thanks for the well wishes @charliegirl77 @beachbum85 @lemons44 I'm still in limbo after today's scan. The fluid was still present 😞. They advised me to continue with progynova and patches until Friday when I'll have another scan. Hopefully my body will reabsorb the fluid over the next few days then I can start progesterone 🤞🏼
@Eljane34 sorry to read about your delay also. Sending positivity your way ✨️

charliegirl77 · 08/04/2024 15:23

Hey Everyone. Thanks so much for all the luck and your thoughts. We did two tests, one showed something, pretty sure an indent/evap and the other test showed as negative. It was a clear blue. I think we are out but my clinic have told me to test tomorrow and report back.

Hope everyone is getting ok who had scans.

Hope your keeping busy @Sunflower360

@beachbum85 No worries on the positive pre-eclampsia story. Aspirin I feel was the game changer for me, I’ve heard others say too.

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 15:29

@Choose2bgr8ful hope things improve in the week for you, so rubbish to get things like that happen when you're geared up to go ahead, delays are the worst when they happen

@charliegirl77 hopefully the test lines get darker for you, have you got a FRER? They detect 7iu

Choose2bgr8ful · 08/04/2024 22:25

Thanks @Sunflower360 I'm going to try and relax. Focus on work stuff this week and hope for the best. It is pretty frustrating though.
Are you managing to keep yourself busy?

Sunflower360 · 08/04/2024 22:30

@Choose2bgr8ful that's good. Yeah I'm trying to just keep my mind off it, although it is hard! Would rather just know for sure then draw a line in the sand to take the next step, but will know in due course

beachbum85 · 09/04/2024 07:54

@Serendipity24 good luck today!! ✨

@charliegirl77 I'm sorry you had to wait an extra day neither here nor there. Thinking of you this morning and hoping for a clear positive🤞🏼

@Choose2bgr8ful ugh that's so frustrating, I'm so sorry! Sounds like they expect the fluid to clear though since they haven't cancelled or anything? Fingers crossed that Friday's scan will show everything's fine 🤞🏼

Totally with you @Sunflower360 I can't take admin delays either! I had to really push to transfer this month as the consultant said the timing was impossible when I had my follow-up for Feb's failed FET at 4pm the day before Easter break... Luckily the nurses made it happen 💪🏼 and, yes, I get your concern about your euploid rate and the possible need for another EC seeing the earlier the better... I often wish I banked more embryos in 2021, but we were on the NHS and didn't really think of it. How are you feeling today?

Sunflower360 · 09/04/2024 08:04

@beachbum85 I'm ok thanks. Still no symptoms that I have significantly noticed bar tiredness but that could just be me over thinking next steps! Im pretty sure this FET hasn't worked. Even more reason to just plough through the embryos I think as I'm doing natural FET, just want to know if any of them are good or not. How are you?

Sunflower360 · 09/04/2024 08:07

I'm not sure what else can be suggested in terms of tests etc as I've had most of them: miscarriage tests (sticky blood, TpoAb etc), Karyotype, Hysteroscopy (polyp and adhesions removed, biopsy done), baby aspirin added, 10mg Prednisolone added. I've shown I can implant as I had a natural chemical before starting the ECs. Kind of curious what may be suggested in the follow up bar from just put another embryo in! I'll likely do double next time though

Serendipity24 · 09/04/2024 08:28

Thank you @beachbum85 , best wishes to you too and to anyone else transferring today or getting any scans or results🍀

My progesterone result came yesterday evening. I was panicking at first because the level was low but then realised the unit was different, so it's actually okay! Phew!

lemons44 · 09/04/2024 08:59

@Choose2bgr8ful do they know what the fluid is? Im not sure if this is the same but during my first round of stims a year ago, on one of my follicle growth scans the nurse said I had cervical mucus on the scan that would impact transfer if still there. At the time I was getting lots of egg white cervical mucus due to the stims and I just assumed it was some of that that was in the cervix. It wasn't there on the next scan. I wonder if yours is similar? I have tried googling about it but can't find much. I hope whatever it is it disappears for you xx

Sunflower360 · 09/04/2024 15:38

Just had a check in call from the clinic, I flagged I hadn't had any symptoms and was pre empting it hasn't worked. They seemed confident everything can be set up to go straight into another cycle should I get a BFN next week.

Just some advice needed....with natural cycles what has your monitoring been like? Blood tests, scans etc I was going to ask for more closer monitoring next time, I found the blood results were quite interesting this time round but only got one set as I ovulated earlier than I normally do (CD 10, normally CD 13-15). I'm conscious the endometrium needs to be timed right

Also any thoughts on double transfers??? I'm considering that for next cycle, conscious I have thyroid antibodies and am on Prednisolone for that....not sure if double is too risky in the circumstances??? But at the same time I want to have double the chance if possible; doing them in singles after 2 FETs already is a bit time consuming when we're considering a further EC

Thoughts/advice appreciated!

Sunflower360 · 09/04/2024 15:38

@Serendipity24 good luck! How was your Progesterone result?

blahblahetc · 09/04/2024 16:40

@Choose2bgr8ful I have a CD10 coming up on Thursday and I'm now worried the scan might not be satisfactory for the FET. Did they advise what else you could do?

I have a provisional date booked now for my FET - 19th April so hoping things go to plan!

@Sunflower360 I'm doing double transfer this time because I havent tested the embryos; and I thought if 1 in 4 is normal for my age, then it's the logical thing to transfer 2. I haven't done it before though, and the doctor said it's generally discouraged in case you do end up with twins (I would be over the moon personally!), as the risks involved with that should not be neglected..

Anyone seen this? - https://www.reddit.com/r/IVF/comments/fljrfi/when_should_i_test_an_informative_post/

@blahblahetc interesting link, I think it makes sense. Regarding doubles, I have to say I agree that it would be great to have twins, but I do believe the physical risks to mother and babies are definitely there... in all honesty that thought I'm almost putting to one side but would only become a reality if it actually happened, which in all honesty in my case is probably miniscule anyway with the way things are going!

blahblahetc · 09/04/2024 17:17

Mine too @Sunflower360 knowing my body. I have a friend, she did a double transfer and lost one in the process. She said the one who survived (her daughter) kicked the other embryo out so she can have more room to herself 😁it is in a way survival of the fittest.

So transfer done today and OTD is on the 18th for blood test.

@Sunflower360 the progesterone level was 12.9 ng/mL which is equivalent to 41 nmol/L.

Regarding double transfer, multiple pregnancies indeed pose real threat to both the mother and the babies. Hence I'm reluctant to pursue it as using DE and the chances of both implanting is theoretically higher.

However, when I was using OE, both times it was double transfers and failed both times. But quality was poor, so not surprised. Back then they were happy to do double transfers as none of them were freezable and the chances of both implanting was nearly zero.

I guess you and @blahblahetc fall in the middle - you are using OE so twin pregnancy is not as likely as using DE but your embryos are much better quality than I what had. Best wishes to both of you that this cycle works and you don't even need to consider a double transfer!

@Serendipity24, that's a good Progesterone level, hope your tww goes ok! What age were you when you had double transfers, if you don't mind me asking?

blahblahetc · 09/04/2024 19:43

Is anyone on Clexane? I was on Clexane 20mg and aspirin 75mg with Create. My current Prague clinic has put me on 100mg aspirin and said not to mix the two… I have asked if I can switch to Clexane after the FET (lots of 20mg left and Prague prescribed 40mg during stim) and they said yes, just again, not to mix..

Anyone knows which might be more effective in preventing blood clots? I’m almost tempted to just self administer both but there must be a reason Prague said to not mix..
