Anyone else preparing for FET April 2024

1000 replies

blahblahetc · 19/02/2024 15:18

Hello, wondering if anyone is preparing for an FET in April?

This will be my 3rd transfer. 1st one implanted but early loss, second (euploid) and third (untested) did not implant. I'm waiting to do a hysteroscopy next week + an ERA following week prior to transfer in April.

We decided against testing this time, and are wondering whether or not to do a double transfer. Our embryos are AA/ABs so want to feel hopeful but fully aware of the possible failure(s) ahead of us..

@lemons44 please don't be sorry for rambling/ venting or anything. We totally get it. We would be doing the same in your shoes. It is so frustrating and heartbreaking to face a cancelled cycle after so much prep and investing so much emotionally, physically, and financially. IVF is a cruel and unfair process 😢

Sunflower360 · 04/04/2024 11:04

@lemons44 echo @Serendipity24 , its an exhausting journey in many ways, so understand completely. When you say your lining was thin, how thin? Sometimes diet and regular movement can help. Mine was 7.6mm on lh surge day, so more on the thinner side in comparison to others, but I believe anything over 7mm is considered good with over 8mm being the prime size. Could be the balance of having to avoid so many meds with medicated which can lead to other challenges in itself

Sunflower360 · 04/04/2024 12:59

@charliegirl77 you've done well not testing! Fingers crossed for your OTD

charliegirl77 · 04/04/2024 13:52

@Sunflower360 Thanks. Feels like forever.

@lemons44 its understandable the way your feeling, completely natural, more so it being a potential second cancellation. I hope you get the blood test results you wanted and can go ahead.

lemons44 · 04/04/2024 16:03

@Serendipity24 @Sunflower360 @charliegirl77 thank you so much for your messages earlier, they really meant a lot. It's nice to have a group of ladies that you can just rant to as this journey can be so lonely and I really needed that earlier.

I've had some good news, the blood tests shows the two ovary cysts are NOT releasing any hormones so they are happy for me to have the cycle. It's been a roller coaster day. When I had an ovary cyst before it was releasing a lot of oestrogen so I was convinced that this would be the same. The nurse said it's where I had the follicles from the egg collection sometimes the follicles don't all disappear they can fill up and become cysts.

I will explore non medicated for the future though. @Sunflower360 I have had two embryo transfers previously both 3 day ones that didn't work (none of our others got past day 3 either as we had a sperm issue) my lining first time round got to 8mm with the pessaries. That was with lots of walking as my job is sat at a desk so I tried hard to get blood flow. Without pessaries I'm not sure what it would be. When I had my initial fertility investigations years ago they did a scan on me on CD27 (day before my period) and my lining was only 4.6mm 😳

xx

charliegirl77 · 04/04/2024 16:45

@lemons44 thars great news. Glad you got the outcome of going ahead like you wanted. I felt the same last week when they found another potential polyp and had to wait for them to decide if transfer could go ahead. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for hit. The roller coaster of emotions is immense on this journey. When’s your transfer booked for?

Serendipity24 · 04/04/2024 16:54

@lemons44 it's awesome you've got the go ahead! Very pleased for you 😊

Sunflower360 · 04/04/2024 18:00

@lemons44 that is good news that you can proceed!

blahblahetc · 04/04/2024 18:36

@lemons44 Sorry you've had a rollercoaster of a day, but pleased it all worked out for you. Do you have a transfer date?

@Sunflower360 Create got back to me re. transferring on CD13; they basically said my conditions were optimal (triple later, 8.2mm, blood flow grade 2-3) so they made the decision to do the FET. Didn't answer my question on optimum transfer period.. I'm not going to dwell on it any further, not going to help anything.. I shall focus on my upcoming FET instead! Scan booked in for this time next week, so I should have a transfer date then.

I also transported my embryos from Create to NHS (private patient) today; the embryologist has no clue what to do with my day-3, I hope the doctor knows what to do when the time comes.. also hope I won't need to use it..

@charliegirl77 Good job on not testing! I tell myself I won't test but I always give in on day 5... I've prepared all my pee sticks now😅

Hope everyone is well and happily preparing for the FET!

@blahblahetc good that they got back to you, as you say best to leave that behind and focus on the transfer ahead

Babydusttous2024 · 04/04/2024 22:04

Hello all!

So glad to have found this thread 🙈 had a freeze all cycle in January, and are doing our first FET this month. Had a scan today at day 10 and endometrial lining is 8.5m thick which they seemed very happy with and booked transfer next week. All great but I forgot to ask them, does the endometrium continue to thicken or just stay the same?? Any info? Starting progesterone in oil Saturday not looking forward to it, but also grateful to be at this stage finally after a long road 🙏

Serendipity24 · 04/04/2024 23:41

@Babydusttous2024 welcome! I think generally the endometrium continues to thicken but at a slower rate during the second half of the cycle. But this could be different when you are taking estrogen, I'm not sure. Are you doing a medicated or natural cycle?

blahblahetc · 05/04/2024 09:29

@Babydusttous2024 Welcome! Did you ask to be put on progesterone in oil (lubion?)? I can't remember why this instead of the pessaries..

@Sunflower360 Was going through previous posts, are you transferring today? 🍀

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 09:38

@blahblahetc yep transfer this afternoon, will time my water in take a bit better this time hopefully as I drank way too much last time... I'm also hoping to get my Progesterone test results this afternoon too (did them yesterday). I didn't have them done for the last FET but I insisted this time regardless of it being a natural FET. What sort of levels are considered 'good' in a FET? I understand 30 is the natural standard but not sure if others have been advised otherwise?

lemons44 · 05/04/2024 10:27

Morning ladies,
Thanks for your messages 💗

@Babydusttous2024 welcome to the group. Very exciting you have your transfer next week. What have you been on in order to prepare your lining?

@Sunflower360 I hope the transfer goes well. I'm not sure about the prog levels but interested in this answer too. Do you have any plans for the next few days after transfer or do you prefer to live life as normal?

I have started my eostrogen today to prepare my lining. For 12 days I am on 5 doses of progynova a day. This seems like quite a lot to me! I have to take it orally 3 times and 2 times a day I have to insert the same tablets vaginally.

Have a scan on 16th to check I can start progesterone. I believe I am then on this for 6 days so think my transfer will be approx 22nd April.

For progesterone I will be on cyclogest and lubion. Then the clinic also want me to inject something called inhixa which I think is a blood thinner and is used to help implantation but not 100% sure xx

blahblahetc · 05/04/2024 10:27

@Sunflower360 Good luck with your FET! I find my previous doc at Create made me drink too much i.e., he wanted me to have the urge to pee when it's not necessary to feel like you are busting! The instructions from my current clinic is just 500ml and not pee within the hour of drinking it.

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 10:32

@blahblahetc thanks for the tip!

lemons44 · 05/04/2024 10:36

@blahblahetc my first clinic also made me drink far too much. They even scanned me and then made me go away, drink more and walk around for 20 mins to get even more in my bladder. I was in agony. When I had my dummy transfer with my new clinic they said for my body less is better because my bladder being too full was making it even harder to get to my cervix so they have told me not to get to the point I feel bursting. They said worse case they can also just wait a while for it to fill up more if needed. I have found the sweet spot for me is 750ml two hours before transfer.

blahblahetc · 05/04/2024 10:41

@lemons44 Yah! It was really annoying because I had read that you do not need to be bursting to know that your bladder is full.. so I was conflicted that day because I knew it was already full based on what I had drank (and released) that morning..and was still being asked to drink some more. I ended up pretending that that I had the urge to pee so they would get on with it😆

Thanks so much for the warm welcome to the group! 🤗 So lovely to speak to a group who really understands!

So I'm on the progesterone in oil for at least the first 8 weeks (hopefully 🙏🤞) then either stick with that or go on pessaries they'll see at the time. I have PCOS and they feel the injections is the way to go? I didn't really question it too much to be honest as we've never been through this before!

To prepare the lining iv been on femutab 1mg twice a day for the first 6 days then upped to 2mg twice a day for the next 4 days and now I'll be on 3mg twice a day 🤞unsure for how long , have you guys stayed on this for long in your experience? I'm actually starting a steroid and antibiotic Saturday until Tuesday and then transfer Thursday.

Feels surreal to be at this stage just so hopeful all works out 🤞✨ the thawing process is another worry but we're hoping all goes well with that too 🙏🙏

Serendipity24 · 05/04/2024 11:33

@Sunflower360 Good luck with the transfer 🍀

Like @blahblahetc , my clinic also told me to drink 500ml half an hour before my reporting time, and the transfer takes place another half an hour later- so 1 hour before the transfer. It worked well last time, I really wanted to pee but could also hold it!

Sunflower360 · 05/04/2024 11:47

@Serendipity24 thanks for the tip!

beachbum85 · 05/04/2024 12:19

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit late joining the thread, and I haven't yet read through to see where everyone is, but I think I'm a transfer buddy with some of you as I'm having an FET on Tuesday!

For context, this is my second natural cycle FET after a failed attempt in February. I have a son who's almost 2 from our second round of ICSI after unexplained infertility, and these 2 embryos were frozen that round... so we're down to our last embryo and really hoping this one sticks.

We weren't sure we'd be able to go ahead this month because of the timing of my follow-up appt with the consultant and Easter break, but I managed to get a scan on Tuesday, and a positive ovulation test on Wednesday, and we're going ahead!

Wishing you all the best of luck on this tough road ⭐

charliegirl77 · 05/04/2024 12:23

@blahblahetc I didn’t realise you were transporting your embryo’s. That sounds stressful. Great you will get a date for transfer soon. Haha on your pee sticks, I’m very impatient now! Just want to know.

@Babydusttous2024 welcome. Hope your preparations are all going well.

@Sunflower360 Good luck for your transfer today, hope all goes smoothly.

Lozzy000 · 05/04/2024 12:52

Hey. I've had my transfer date confirmed as 15th April - yay! So will start progesterone pessaries and lubion from next Wednesday. This is my second transfer but the only embryo from this cycle... so I'm really hoping it survives the thaw as I've got nothing to fall back on.

Anyone else transferring around 15th? x
