Failed FET with euploid. Anyone had success on rounds two or three?

Our first transfer has failed. I was really hopeful given the PGTA testing.

We have three more frozen euploid embryos, all high grades. But I’m now just feeling a bit lost and defeated if the one they’ve deemed the ‘best’ has failed.

I’m 42 so don’t have time on my side and I can’t afford any more egg collections. I wondered if anyone has had this happen and then go onto have a subsequent successful cycle? We have a follow up appointment next week to discuss and decide next steps. I’m just feeling so low.

is anyone else going through this now? 😢 first Euploid FET we had to terminate due to anencephaly and second FET is a complete fail. Two more good quality euploids left.. we’ve our review just before Christmas

I'm planning to transfer my 3rd euploid embryo in the new year. It's been very disheartening to go through round after round with negative results.. Although I took a year long break this time. We are doing a natural FET instead of fully medicated. I'll be on progesterone and blood thinners.

I haven't done the ERA as I have had some biochemical pregnancies so the consultant doesn't think it's a timing thing. Just bad luck 😔

Good luck to anyone else going through treatment at the moment!

It’s so disheartening to go through all the treatment and then get negative results. It also sometimes feels like time is just slipping away. It’s exhausting.

It’s really positive that you both have euploid embryos, and seems like you need a bit of luck on your side for your next cycles.

@cupcake89 how many frozen embryos do you have in storage now?

2 left in storage. We keep saying one more round and then when it fails, we end up going again.

I don't think I could go through another round of egg collection, PGTA after this though.

We had success almost 5 years ago and now are trying for a sibling so feel we need to draw a line somewhere.

Always28 · 20/11/2024 19:03

I completely get that needing to draw a line. We did two egg collections - in the first we got no euploid embryos and then got 4 in the second collection. Our second transfer worked - we had basically decided we would try with the embryos we had stored and if it didn’t work, we would stop there and make other plans. It’s exhausting in so many ways and even with the best will in the world not to let it, it takes over your life and keeps you in a sort of limbo.

Really really hope your next transfer works for you.

Thank you! And good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.. hope everything goes as smoothly as possible!

Hi all, I've just found out my first euploid FET failed. Feeling really devasted and out of hope, but seeing some of you had success on a 2nd transfer is helping a little bit.

I've been on prednisolone for Nk cells already, plus thyroid meds and have had so many other tests done. I did have an issue with lining being on the thinner side, although it got to a level they were happy with, and my progesterone was a bit low on day of transfer but picked up quickly from there via injections...

Just feel like there's so many reasons or could go wrong even with a good grade euploid. To be honest I feel like I'm cursed. I had a TFMR in 2023, 2 hysteroscopies to remove adhesions from the surgery, a chemical in summer 2024 and now this, doesn't feel like luck is ever on my side

For anyone who did the ERA test here, do you think its worth it? I'll make an appointment with my consultant soon and its something he had mentioned as an option, that or another hysteroscopy maybe. I'm just so sick and tired of it all

Hello @Always28 I hope you're well.
I realise it's an old thread but reading it I became really interested in your story, as it matches our situation, so thought you might not mind sharing more details 😊

You've written that in first EC you've had no euploid embryos and then 4 in the second. Did you do anything different during the second cycle to get such amazingly better outcome?

I am asking as our first EC resulted in zero euploids; we are just getting everything in line to go again, but feeling discouraged. We're 41 now. Any advice would be welcome 💖

Orangewillow · 08/03/2025 17:56

@Happibara just adding my 2 cents here - sorry you didn't get euploid embryos, did you get some embryos but they were aneuploid?

My 1st EC we got 1 embryo from 8 eggs, 5 mature, 4 fertilised. 2nd EC straight after got 9 eggs, all mature & fertilised and 7 blastocysts, 5 euploid. I absolutely think a lot of it comes down to luck unfortunately but I went from 350 ovaleap in round 1, short protocol, to 450 menopur with buserelin trigger in my 2nd with longer stims and also was taking 600mg coq10 a day alongside other supplements. I'd been on the coq10 for quite a while and started taking Ovum supplement in the months prior which has loads of the supplements recommended in it starts with the egg.

Maybe it helped, maybe not, I like to think it paid off as I was rattling with supplements! I do think the change in meds helped though, and we did ICSI on round two

Happibara · 08/03/2025 19:00

Hi @Orangewillow , thank you for your message, I'm glad your story has such uplifting end after the heartache 💖 5 euploid embryos is truly wonderful, congratulations!

You're correct, we've had 4 day 5 and day 6 embryos, ranging in quality from excellent to acceptable, and unfortunately none were euploid.

I'm already taking what feels like every supplement under the sun, but I'm increasingly worried that no matter what we do we'll just end with a batch of abnormal unusable embryos, simply due to our age. From what I read it seems the supplements can be great for the quality of eggs, their ability to mature, even the numbers to some degree. But if the eggs in the cohort bear damaged chromosomes then that of course won't be repaired and resulting embryos will be abnormal.

So I am trying to hope that it is random chance and next round will play out differently. Really appreciate you sharing though, and it was very interesting to read how different the results were under a changed stims protocol! That's definitely one of the things we'll ask about during our review next week.

Orangewillow · 08/03/2025 19:10

Thanks @Happibara we did get so lucky on the embryos - now just need that luck to extend to one of them actually implanting and then becoming a baby!

That's great you got a decent number of embryos and hopefully it was just bad luck this round and you'll get some euploids next time. Age is such a hard one as there's obviously nothing you can do about it but to be getting embryos to test is a big thing in itself, everything crossed for your next round and if they do change thr protocol that it helps. Best of luck!

Always28 · 10/03/2025 07:54

Morning

On our second egg collection I really didn’t do much different at all. I guess the only thing is that I had had a longer time of taking supplements etc. I had a bit of reflexology for the second cycle which was relaxing and lovely. But there was nothing I could put my finger on as being the difference. It was just a better cycle.

The ERA testing for us adjusted the window slightly and the next cycle worked. So I’ll always be glad we did the testing - although it was a very hard decision at the time. I felt more at peace though knowing we had tried all we could.

At the very least, hopefully this thread can give some reassurance that euploid embryos don’t always work but it doesn’t mean the next one won’t. Oh and my lining was thin again on the last cycle, despite everything thrown at it but it still worked - so thin lining doesn’t always mean it won’t work.

I now have a 13 day old baby girl, so we are very lucky. I hope anyone else reading this has success on their IVF journey too. It’s so hard and such a rollercoaster.
