I am a 30 year old women trying to conceive-
Currently trying to find a good IVF clinic - awaiting to see if I’m eligible on the NHS

Does anyone have any experience with IVF treatment at Guys Hospital ? NHS or private ?

• how long did it take for your funding to be accepted?
• what was the waiting times like ?
• was you successful?
• how did you find the doctors/consultants?
• did the male partners BMI have to be included ?

@LIVFingOnAPrayer19 thats what I’m going to have due to my high levels of AMH - after you done your freeze all- how long do you have to wait untill your implantation ? X

@CEllenx after the embryos were frozen you have withdrawal bleed which they don't class as a period. Then can have embryo transfer on the following period (if well and no symptoms of OHSS).

@LIVFingOnAPrayer19 yes I’ve had all the testing appointments and next week will be seeing the nurses to discuss the protocol , when to start & do the injections :) think im doing the short protocol as I’m at risk of OHSS, then think I’m having a FET

@CEllenx good luck! They planned to do a freeze all with me but after starting stims I was borderline. 19 follicles, 16 eggs collected. Any more than 20 follicles is a freeze all. They booked me in for a 5 day transfer but cancelled as that morning I developed OHSS and pelvis had filled with too much fluid. I had ovitrelle to trigger which is what caused it. They should have given me a 5 day course of cabergoline after egg collection to help prevent OHSS but didn't. So might be worth checking if you need it!

Not booked in for transfer yet. But have all the medications ready to go when am fully recovered!

@LIVFingOnAPrayer19 oh no ! How did they miss giving you the prevention med ?

@CEllenx not sure how they missed it. Just one of the doctors mentioned it once I had developed OHSS by which point it's too late to give it.

Not long had withdrawal bleed. Withdrawal bleed happens between 2-14 days after EC or stopping progesterone (because I continued to take progesterone after EC as they were planning transfer). Typical I was full 14 days! So waiting for my next cycle. I still have some fluid in my abdomen so I may give it few more cycles. I'm soo worn out from being unwell for the best part of 2 months (I also found stimulation hard too! Extreme tiredness and feeling uncomfortable around the ovaries).

As for the process once I started IVF - I emailed them on day 1 of my cycle. Had a scan on CD3 to check for cysts and ensure no dominant follicles and uterus lining returning to normal. Started stims (Gonal F) that evening. After 6 days, added in Fyremadel in the morning to prevent ovulation. Had another scan after 10 days of stimulation to see if I can trigger. They wanted to give me a few more days to get some of the smaller follicles to catch up. Had another scan 2 days later and then triggered later that night. EC is then scheduled for 36hrs later. So be prepared to be told to trigger during the early hours of the morning (I had to set alarm to wake myself up! - something I wasn't expecting!).

@CEllenx will keep you updated. From what I know so far - The plan for transfer is to start oestrogen tablets (2 tabs morning and 2 evening) from CD1 (I just need to let them know what cycle I'm starting, I've had all medication delivered). Scan is then booked 12-14 days later. If lining good enough, I will start progesterone suppositories (1 morning 1 evening), transfer should be 5-6 days after this. If lining not good enough, I will go back for another scan 2-3 days later.

@CEllenx they sent me 2: ovitrelle and decapeptyl depending on how many follicles I had. Ended up only needing the ovitrelle.

@CEllenx what meds have they ordered for you?

@CEllenx same meds as me. Gonal-f for stims, fyremadel to prevent ovulation and decapeptyl is probably your trigger. Fingers crossed you can start 🤞🏻

I'm just letting my body recover from OHSS. Will hopefully be doing a FET soon.

Hey @LIVFingOnAPrayer19 it went well thank you started my Gonal F on Thursday @ 225units a day, went in for bloods today and they’ve asked me to drop down to 50 units - my FSH must be too high ! I was worried I would react quickly to it ! Starting 2nd injection Fyremadel tomorrow then going back for another scan on Wednesday & Friday hopefully egg collection on Monday ! Feeling really sick from the injections, how are you healing from your OHSS? Xx

Glad you got to start! Wow your FSH must be high to drop the Gonal-F that much! Good luck with the fyremadel. I hated that injection. DP had to do mine! Fingers crossed yours scans go ok and you can go ahead with EC on Monday 🤞🏻

I feel fully recovered from the OHSS, have a scan on Friday to check everything resolved.

@LIVFingOnAPrayer19 i know worried I’m gonna get it cancelled if it goes too high ! That fyremadel is horrible still hurting from doing it this morning ! Feeling bloated as hell! Glad you’re recovering well hope your scan goes well ! If so when do you have to prepare your womb again xx

had scan this morning to check lining ahead of FET. Nice 8mm thick so almost good to go.

Back at Guys Thursday to thaw eggs and give over sperm sample to fertilise, all being well then pencilled in transfer for Tuesday 30th!

@CEllenx Fyremadel used to hurt for a good hour or so afterwards and would have a red rash around it! I remember feeling bloated and uncomfortable especially in the last few days leading up to EC.
For me, will Probably start prepping soon.
