Hi everyone,
This is my second IVF attempt, the first one was last year and it was so emotionally draining, I couldn't get myself to try again until this month. I am now 6 days post blastocyst transfer and I took a pregnancy test which came back negative. I know it's still early but I see so many testing positive from 5 days post transfer so I feel really deflated today. Did anyone test positive later on?

Thank you xx

Hi ladies, late to the party here. I am 3dp5dt. We only 6 eggs and ended up with only one blast with nothing to freeze which was so disappointing. It’s put more pressure of this one working. I’m dreading the thought of doing it all again straight away if it doesn’t. Was really hoping we could just do a frozen transfer. I assume I’d have to wait a cycle in between to down reg?
I def think the emotional side of all this is the hardest and trying to manage it on top of a job!
Thinking if you all! ❤️

@CoCoaButter85 I had my appointment earlier today and burst into tears when my consultant asked how I am. I actually felt completely fine up until that point! Then I composed myself and went through the last IVF cycle and any further tests. I asked about immunology, microbiome, killer cells, ERA, sperm dna fragmentation test and thrombophilia. Out of all of these, she recommended we do the dna fragmentation and thrombophilia test ( have you done these?). For this cycle, we are going to attempt a natural FET (which surprisingly can happen in around 3 weeks) and if that doesn't work, we will do the further tests. I am feeling fairly negative at this point, but want to go ahead with it so I don't waste time.

@Blossomofhope welcome! Don't think about that now, you really only need one and for you this could literally be it! From own experience, I'd say if you can, try and be busy as you might drive yourself crazy being in your head too much. I was avoiding meeting friends and doing things during the wait but it was the worst thing I could do as it was all I could think about! I assume you'd have to wait at least a cycle, as you first need to wait for the follow up appointment to discuss the last IVF cycle and that might not happen as quickly as you'd want. You also might want a short break to recover emotionally and focus on yourself.
But at this point, all I can say is try and stay positive and busy!

@Miarez thanks so much for the positivity, you’re right. I hope you’re doing ok!

CoCoaButter85 · 11/10/2023 12:16

@Miarez - I highly recommend talking to therapist if only your clinic offers free session. It's a lot to deal with and go through. And unless people have gone through themselves it is so difficult for them to understand it.

My consultant was talking about embryo testing once we use everything. But I will ask about the tests you mentioned (no point waiting to create embryo if there's something fundamentally wrong with parts that go into creating it).

I was thinking for myself about natural cycle as well. Will be interesting to see if they will offer me one with the 3rd cycle .

Glad your waiting time is not too long. The sooner your can move on the better

CoCoaButter85 · 11/10/2023 12:25

@Blossomofhope - oh I can understand how nerve wrecking the waiting is. But as @Miarez said the best thing to do is just keep yourself busy. With my transfer I was ok for the first week but then got really nervous during the second one. I know this is not for everyone but next time I will try testing as soon as it is reasonable. No point living in hope for another week. It gives time to adjust as well and drive yourself less crazy.

Appreciate the pressure is on for this to work. But maybe think form a perspective that based purely on probability you need more embryos to get pregnant so this one doesn't necessarily has to be the one that works. Maybe you need few more. We all have been unlucky having to go through IVF in the first place and it's just part of the process (and costs associated with it)

Anyway, I will keep fingers crossed for you! This embryo might be the lucky one!

@CoCoaButter85 today is day 5 post FET and I'm seeing a vvvfl line on my FRER. It is there right, I'm not imagining it?

@Miarez - oooh! That is so exciting!! I can definitely see it as well! Fingers crossed it is only going to get stronger. If I were you I would not celebrate just yet but certainly would keep my hopes up!

CoCoaButter85 · 27/10/2023 09:11

I'm so so happy for you. Are you taking another test tomorrow? I really hope this is it for you ! That would be great for Christmas as well. Fingers crossed that line is only going to get stronger xx

Miarez · 27/10/2023 09:16

@CoCoaButter85 thank you, I really hope so too, but I'm definitely anxious about it since so I already had a chemical first time round! I read a lot about implantation timing and I really wanted to know if it will implant when it should, so that made me happy. But then I started thinking what if the test is broken, is this an indent line, what if tomorrow I see nothing and so on😅 the joys of ttc and fertility treatments mixed with my crazy mind. Knowing myself, I will test every day until OTD😅 unless I get my period before. How are you? What's next in your timeline?

CoCoaButter85 · 27/10/2023 10:13

@Miarez - I fully understand you. The worry just never ends until the actual baby is out 😂if I ever get to the point to get the line I will certainly be like you until the very end. And then different worries will start. I was wondering how you were getting on so really pleased at least for now it's looking good

I have my hysteroscopy booked on 9th Nov, waiting for Asda to sort out my prescription so hopefully that will happen on time. Need bloods from GP as well and had my appointment rescheduled twice now!! But it's ok, in the worst case will get it through my clinic. Just trying to find ways how to save even a little bit of money. But should have FET and result by Christmas. If negative will be able to enjoy a drink to drown my sorrows 😂my birthday is in Dec as well. But trying not to keep my hopes up.

Would you mind telling bit more about the process you went through this time? I understand it was natural? Did you have to take any medication at all?

Miarez · 27/10/2023 11:35

@CoCoaButter85 not long to go for you as well!! Even though days feel so much longer in ivf world! And completely understand the saving money bit, don't even want to tell my husband how much money I have spent on pregnancy tests to date😆
For this FET, I had to use opk to track ovulation, I then had one scan only to confirm ovulation and lining was think enough. I then started using progesterone pessaries and had my FET scheduled for this past Sunday morning. Evening after transfer I had literally period cramps that were even more painful on Tuesday, then intermittent on Wednesday and yesterday. I started testing yesterday morning and got stark negatives, I was so disappointed even though I knew its still early. So this morning i took the test expecting another negative as all I have no symptoms other than my usual pms cramps!

@Miarez - seems that natural cycle worked for you. Maybe that's just better for your body. Or maybe you were simply more lucky this time and that's all. Hope the line is progressing nicely! Xx

Miarez · 28/10/2023 09:09

@CoCoaButter85 I ran out of FRER so I bought a cheap one not as sensitive but I think it's looking darker?

It's definitely getting darker! If it's even darker on Tuesday I think that might be it. Still need to wait for your official testing date though.

Which cheaper brand did you use? I have superdrug early detection one

Miarez · 28/10/2023 15:28

@CoCoaButter85 definitely, first chemical I started bleeding on actual OTD, so I'm being very cautiously positive at the moment. I also have no symptoms. I used coop ones which say are early detection, their sensitivity is 25. I think I'm actually going to do a blood hcg test on Monday and Wednesday. I saw in US they do that, so I want to see what my hcg is looking like then!

OP posts:
CoCoaButter85 · 30/10/2023 13:34

@Miarez - I went to superdrug on Sunday and only could find there own brand early detection and ClearBlue, no sight of FirstResponse. Where did you get those?
Keep us posted how the blood results go! I can imagine how nerve-wrecking the waiting is x

Miarez · 30/10/2023 13:58

@CoCoaButter85 I thought I responded just now but post is not showing so I may have not pressed post or you may see 2 posts 😄 I bought them on amazon, but even there they ran out🤣 the last I ordered was a 3 pack First Response that includes one early detection, one fast response and one digital, all with different levels of hcg so can't compare! But the one I took on 6dpt afternoon (pic attached) looks darker than the one I took a day before. I now just have to wait for the blood test result, tonight or tomorrow morning!

@CoCoaButter85 *the second First Response is a rapid one that shows results in 1min but don't know the threshold. That actually came back similarly to 6dpt yesterday so don't know what to think anymore!

OP posts:
Miarez · 30/10/2023 14:00

@CoCoaButter85 I'm not making sense anymore😄 I mean the rapid test one I took yesterday at 7dpt looked very similar to the early detection one I took at 6dpt, that you can see in the picture 😁

@Miarez that's a great line for 6dp. :) You won't always get a clear progression every day. If you look at my tests 8dp is lighter than 7dp but the beta on that day was a good level.

Miarez · 30/10/2023 16:34

@Gardenlady543 omg thank you so much for sharing this with me! Did you have any symptoms this early on? I only have nausea ocassionally, but that could be the progesterone, otherwise nothing at all!

OP posts:
Miarez · 30/10/2023 17:48

@Gardenlady543 @CoCoaButter85 hcg came back 103, so that made me happy. I will go for another test on Wednesday to see if it doubles, hopefully 🥹

OP posts:
Gardenlady543 · 30/10/2023 20:20

@Miarez very similar to my 8dp5dt level :) the only thing I had early on was burping. I was on steroids which surprises first trimester symptoms. But this early on you really don't tend to get anything that you can make judgements from.

Miarez · 01/11/2023 17:17

@Gardenlady543 thank you, that really helped my nerves. My hcg this morning came back at 285!! I am going to do just one more blood test on Monday then I'll hopefully believe it is true!
