Hi

Just wanted to ask once you have been referred for fertility on the NHS how long does it take to hear back and usually tests have to be within 1 year. Is this when starting treatment or 1 year of when the referral was received. Also, do you have to be available in the next few months.....what about if you have holidays or breaks booked to go abroad

I had a referral go through in late September and heard nothing else until April. We ended up paying to have a private fertility check up in the meantime which spead some things up but not massively. It has meant that i haven't had to have certain tests done by the NHS as the private results have been sent on to them but I'm still waiting now to actually start any treatment.
I believe you can find online the waiting times for the NHS in your area and elect to use another area that has a shorter wait if you want to but you will have to have to travel to have all of your treatment in that area.
I think how much you will need to be available would ultimately depend on what treatment you end up needing to have, with the appointments I've had so far they were able to offer me a couple of different days but it still has been hard to juggle around working full time already.
Hope any of that is helpful x
