@Eiremogra oh! I haven’t had a FET yet. I’m awaiting it. Irregular cycles so I’m going to phone Monday and see where I’m at/when I can get booked in

Eiremogra · 01/02/2024 09:46

Best of luck with the call on Monday @StuffLoriThangs . The waiting about to get information or a solid plan drove me nuts!! Fingers crossed for you xx

2mumlife · 01/02/2024 10:40

@Kitty12345678 Congratulations! Great to hear things are progressing so well for you!

So I'm 10dp5dt today and got a positive home pregnancy test this morning 😍I had a lot of suspicions it was going to go that way, but been trying not to get my hopes up. Didn't test early, as I've been a bit superstitious to be honest (we didn't test early with DD). Was feeling very optimistic as I've always bled before test day when its been a BFN (and I've had no bleeding) and I've been nauseous and tired on and off, in a way that feels the same kind of way I remember in the early days with DD (though its hit a lot earlier this time around). I'm getting blood hcg test on Monday at the clinic just for reassurance that things are looking like they should do there, and then early pregnancy scan has been booked for the 26th (so another even longer wait ahead). Just taking things one step at a time and keeping everything crossed things continue to progress.

@Ellenn @StuffLoriThangs Best of luck! @Eiremogra How long do you need to delay testing for? Good luck :)

@Nosejug Glad you found our experience helpful. What I would say is our experience with donor sperm has been positive. I think if you are in the situation you are facing using donor-anything that it is definitely worth taking some time to decide what is important to you and what decisions you want to make for any future child/ren - I am of the opinion that using donor-anything is not just about you, but also you need to be comfortable justifying that position to any child/ren in the future. I did quite a bit of reading about the views of donor-conceived people, to try to understand how a child/ren might feel about being donor conceived and what might be important (ability to know who their donor is and find donor siblings, and knowing about their donor conception from early on if life were the most routinely important things to most donor conceived people). So one of the reasons for using the European Sperm Bank for example (rather than uk sperm) was the substantial amount of information about the donor you receive, which we felt was really important to be able to provide answers to questions and child/ren had about their donor (so we have photos, an audio interview and a question full of medical but also personal information like favourite food, colour etc). We also have a copy of the letter the donor wrote in their own hand to any children conceived through their donation. We have also connected with 4 other families (interestingly all single-women) who used the same donor (there are groups where donor families can connect). So, we know about (at least some of) our DD's genetic half-siblings. I know 2 of the families meet up regularly, but for now we are content just to know who and where they are. It means we can answer at least questions as our DD gets older. We also talk about donor conception with her - when she was little it was a chance to practice, and now as she gets older some of it may start to sink in. We're very keen that its just something she's always known about herself and feels able to talk about openly. I know it is SO much harder to find an egg donor though, and going abroad where there are egg donors often means using an anonymous donor.

Eiremogra · 01/02/2024 10:48

@2mumlife this is fantastic news! Congratulations!! We plan on testing next Wednesday instead of our planned test day (Monday). Only a 2 day wait but I know it going to have to majorly distract myself!! I know it’s not ideal but after all we’ve been through to get to this point,it’s so important that we’re together for the test results. So I’ve planned a HCG test with Medichecks on Monday - likely take a day or 2 for the results plus we will do about a zillion Clearblue on Wednesday….xxx

2mumlife · 01/02/2024 10:50

@Eiremogra I can understand wanting to find out together - DP left for work later this morning so we could test together as well. Hopefully it'll all be worth the wait! 🤞🤞🤞

Eiremogra · 01/02/2024 11:49

Thanks @2mumlife. Have you contacted your clinic with the results? What advice have they given? These pessasaries are awful…my stomach is so distended! Going to have to rush to the shops for some emergency massive knickers 😂

2mumlife · 01/02/2024 15:43

@Eiremogra Yes, let clinic know this morning. My blood hcg and early pregnancy scan is with them. We did home pregnancy test this time instead of bloods (it used to always be bloods) but they said as we live further away from the clinic I could do home pregnancy test and just call with the results. I requested to do the blood hcg just for reassurance.

Advice was just the normal keep taking all my meds and pregnancy vitamins. With my DD I had a big bleed between positive test and the early pregnancy scan due to a subchorionic hematoma, so I'm just taking each day as it comes to be honest and hoping everything is uneventful before the early pregnancy scan

Kitty12345678 · 01/02/2024 21:12

@2mumlife that’s amazing news congrats!! Wishing you all the best with your scan on the 26th xxxx

2mumlife · 02/02/2024 16:02

@Kitty12345678 Thank you. Just taking one day at a time and staying cautiously optimistic 🤞

2mumlife · 02/02/2024 16:04

@Ellenn How are you getting on? You still planning to test Sunday?

Ellenn · 02/02/2024 16:47

@2mumlife hey! Yes I’m doing ok trying to symptom spot but not too much apart from a bit of cramping and coffee aversion (and I love drinking coffee in the morning!) maybe it’s just in my head 🙈 thankfully had a busy day at work today so time went fast might struggle tomorrow though ….. Sunday will be 9dp5dt so was hoping it would be obvious either way? I hate getting faint lines!

how are you doing?

2mumlife · 02/02/2024 17:44

@Ellenn Symptom spotting is so tough! The coffee aversion might be a good sign though! I had really bad coffee aversion with DD but I think it started after test day (I made DP drink her coffee in a different room and at one point said even her breath smelling of coffee was too much!). I’m not hating coffee at the moment, but I’m drinking less, as just feeling really thirsty and wanting loads of juice (that was one of few very early symptoms with DD too). Otherwise I’ve just got low level intermittent nausea and feeling tired. Looking forward to blood check on Monday just for reassurance (though GCRM are apparently now next day results which is a change). I had my bloods done at 15dp5dt with DD as test day was New Year’s Eve so clinic wasn’t open, so looking forward to comparing with that.

I would say by 9dp5dt you’d pick it up. On my chemical pregnancy I could pick it up from 5dp5dt if I remember correctly and even on official test day when my blood hcg level was very very low I was still picking it up (though very faintly).

keeping everything crossed for you! 🤞

Ellenn · 02/02/2024 18:35

@2mumlife how far are you now? Will this be your first set of bloods? GCRM never got back to my message 😢 but I’ve ordered a medichecks test instead!

I feel a bit negative about it today not sure why or if I’m just super tired as been busy today! What day did you end up testing?

Eiremogra · 02/02/2024 20:29

@Ellenn do you know how long it takes for the Medichecks results to come back? I’ve got an appointment on Monday but have to wait until OH gets back home from work on Wednesday to check bloody results and do CB…..dreading the wait!!!xx

Ellenn · 02/02/2024 20:53

@Eiremogra when I’ve used them (and ticked no doctors comments when you order) if you get in post first thing usually will get results in 48 hrs. I’ve heard some people can get results even quicker but that’s always been my experience. (Even at the weekend I’ve had results come through)

Eiremogra · 02/02/2024 21:32

Thanks @Ellenn 48 hours would be great..can’t bare to think the results could be sat in my emails and I can’t open them until OH gets home (assuming results are emailed?)x

Ellenn · 02/02/2024 22:35

@Eiremogra yes you get an email notification when you get results and just need to log into your account online to view 😊 it certainly makes you refresh your emails constantly 🤣

2mumlife · 03/02/2024 07:22

@Ellenn So I tested 10dp5dt with urine test clinic gave me + an (out of date 🙄) FRER I had left over in cupboard. I’ll be 14dp5dt on Monday when bloods are taken which will be first seT of bloods, and assuming hcg levels look good I won’t do any more blood test. I’ve got 2 CB digital weeks tests that I’m planning on doing next weekend and the weekend after to check things are progressing

keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

2mumlife · 04/02/2024 09:58

@Ellenn Wishing you luck this morning x

Ellenn · 04/02/2024 10:14

@2mumlife thanks! I got a positive at 4am 🤣 it’s impossible to sleep! Did a clear blue as well which is saying 1-2 wks as I panicked that my line was quite faint initially (it does look darker now it’s dried) I know you can’t really compare but did you get an obvious dark line on 9dp5dt? Going to take my medichecks test and send it tomorrow 🤞undecided if I will do another one? Gets quite expensive ….

2mumlife · 04/02/2024 10:58

@Ellenn Congratulations!!! I know that 4am
cant sleep testing 😂. Honestly it’s impossible to compare lines - I did a first response they is a different sensitivity and a cassette style (like covid test) one from the clinic. Also the concentration of your urine can vary loads. Your line looks nice and strong :) I’ve not done a digital test yet as pacing myself 😂 but I would be reassured that it’s saying 1-2 weeks. Hope you have something nice planned for today to celebrate! Does your clinic organise an early pregnancy scan for you?

Ellenn · 04/02/2024 11:55

@2mumlife honestly you just get paranoid at everything don’t you 🙈 technically my OTD isn’t till 14dp5dt so on Friday although realised I’m going to run out of lubion on Friday so think will phone clinic on Wednesday and see what they say 🤞 do you have a date for a scan yet? I’m going to try and get one around 6/6.5 wks but I know my clinic may want to wait longer. May just need to pay privately!

IVFlife · 04/02/2024 13:56

@Ellenn omg amazing!😃

IVFlife · 04/02/2024 13:59

Hello. I've not been on as much recently life been very busy. Yesterday I took my final hrt meds and I'm now on no hrt for 2 weeks which will be interesting. And then I start clinic meds.have started having a bleed so am hoping to have a properly decent big bleed. Then we will confirm a date for starting. 😁 (This is a donor egg thaw fresh transfer)

How is everyone this weekend?

2mumlife · 04/02/2024 17:30

@Ellenn 14dp5dt is a little later than most clinics OTD which is interesting. I’d definitely give them a call. Are you on Lubion until 13 weeks? I was only on Lubion for the 6 days before transfer. Your abdomen must be getting sore and bruised having to keep going! Yeah our clinic early pregnancy scan is on the 26th, so about 7 weeks. I’ve never paid for private scan, and not sure I’d want a private scan for my
early scan personally as if it’s not good news I think I’d rather hear it from my clinic / not sure how sensitive some of these private places are. I’m building myself up mentally to tell NHS to get on list for booking in and 12 week scan, as I left it until after my early pregnancy scan last time and that seemed to mean our 12 week scan was later and things. I hate this bit up to 12 weeks as everything feels so tentative.

@IVFlife Hope you don’t get too many symptoms after stopping hrt. That will be exciting to get going! So will they defrost all your donor eggs and fertilise during this cycle? Best of luck!
