Two years of trying, had all the tests and the only thing that came back was a slightly underactive thyroid (sub clinical) for me and slightly lower than ideal motility for my husband

Supposed to be starting IVF early next year

All the tests with NHS or privately? And what tests?

Woodcottage1 · 26/12/2022 16:52

I’ll help with this. I’m restarting my journey starting tomorrow and getting my supplements ready, I’ll upload what I’ll be taking.

We started out with the NHS, but the wait was over 2 years and I'm 35. I'd love to have 2 so we just wanted to get started!
I've had the day 3 and day 21 tests on the NHS
And then privately, follicle scan, another blood test to check hormones\ovulating and the HyCosy. They all came back really positive, the only small thing was a slightly underactive thyroid

I've been taking CoQ10 and some other general fertility supplements which I got from a local health store. What are you taking\planning on taking?

No idea but following as so fed up. I have an nhs call next week but as it’s secondary infertility I don’t expect much. Can someone please tell me what they offer if you’ve already had the day 21 and semen analysis which came back fine?
A part of me wants to just jump straight to private but I feel like I should exhaust all my options (especially as it’s so expensive).

Anonbaby · 28/12/2022 19:54

@BiscuitLover3678 they will do an ultrasound and follicle count. They will prescribe clomid or letrozole if required. If you want AMH testing then you will have to pay. They won’t fund any more severe interventions such as IVF.

I feel your pain. We are secondary infertility too (well, third actually). In April it’ll be 2 years. We started TTC when our youngest was 18 months old so it wasn’t even long after and it’s never happened again for us

After the GP blood/semen tests they booked me in for a telephone consultation with a fertility nurse (that was rearranged a couple of times) and following on from that I was sent a letter inviting me to book in for a HyCosy scan. That all took about a year, by which time I had already given up and gone private

It's so expensive isn't it! I just got to the stage where I needed some progress somewhere and going private was the only way to keep moving things forward
