ABC IVF timeline & advice

Hi everyone,

Myself & my partner (lesbian couple) are looking to begin our IVF journey shortly. I will (hopefully!) carry the baby, using my own eggs, and donor sperm will be used. We haven't yet had our initial assessment/scan as I've only just had my coil out (this was the Mirena coil which had been in for 2-3 years to help with periods). I haven't had a period in the duration the coil was in and clinic have recommended having this out for 1 month prior to the initial assessment so we'd be looking at end of Sept.

We are looking into using ABC IVF, due to their reviews, general helpfulness so far and the fact that they're a substantial amount cheaper than clinics closer to us.

The ABC clinics in Manchester/Liverpool etc are about a 4 hour drive from us. We would be looking at potentially staying nearby to the clinic for the duration of the cycle.

It would be really helpful if anyone who has gone through IVF at ABC could shed some light on the timeline of appointments, i.e. how many in-clinic appointments there are, etc? Obviously, we will do whatever we need to but having a rough idea would be good!

Also, the initial assessment states that 30 areas of fertility are checked. Can anyone who has had this at ABC expand on this any further?

After the initial consult, are you able to go ahead as soon as AF arrives or is there a bit of a wait?

Thanks so much in advance :)

@K2012 I honestly couldn't believe it. I think with it being an abdominal scan as well, I was expecting her to not see anything and have to try vaginal but it came up straight away! It was so tiny, like a little bean. 😊

I don't think it is the progesterone to be honest. I've been taking them since the EC on 31 Oct and not had anything like this - more so the other way! I think it's more likely to have been something I've eaten because it lasted 3 days and I seem to be a lot better today!

Aww that’s great to hear 🙏🏻👍🏻 Are you having a week 8 scan as well?

Okay I thought it was the progesterone because that made me go to the loo very often lol

@maybebaby2023 Wow I’m so glad to hear that ❤️❤️❤️

how are you feeling?

maybebaby2023 · 13/12/2022 18:19

@K2012 I’m doing good thanks. Virtually symptomless now (lucky!!) which added to the anxiety leading up to last night’s scan. I am pretty tired but that could also be due to exam season of doing a part time degree on top of work!

@maybebaby2023 okay good. I was extremely tired during the first and third trimester so it’s probably pregnancy related.

K2012 · 27/01/2023 10:11

@maybebaby2023 how’s it going? How many weeks are you now?

maybebaby2023 · 27/01/2023 23:30

@K2012 it’s going good, thank you for asking 😊 I’m 15 weeks, got gender scan a week tomorrow, can’t wait to find out. Still not had any symptoms really apart from PGP but I’m getting fairly used to that now!

@maybebaby2023 just read this thread as I’m just starting to explore Create clinic. Such a lovely positive story!

How are you? Did the rest of the pregnancy all go smoothly? 🤞🏻

K2012 · 04/08/2023 11:09

@maybebaby2023 is baby here yet? 👶🏻

maybebaby2023 · 05/08/2023 07:08

@K2012 he sure is! He arrived 19th July via EMCS weighing 7lb 5. He is a little dream ☺️ ☁️
@FoodFann yes, I had a really straight forward pregnancy. Everything was absolutely textbook throughout. His birth was not so textbook but I’m not sure there’s such a thing as a textbook birth!
